That's just what I was thinking. To each his own. No one needs to explain why they love or hate anything to anyone. LOL.

There is no reason to "agree to disagree" on something that is a matter of fact. Starbucks does sell many drinks that are in the $4-$5 range but a cup of coffee is not one of them. Latte, yes. Drip coffee, no.

The point is that Nescafe has had a store on Main Street in basically the same way that Starbucks will. Starbucks is replacing Nescafe, so why did you prefer Nescafe?

Thanks, that would really clear things up. If people prefer Nescafe, then they could say so, and perhaps say why.

no one needs to say or explain anything on this board ever for any reason. but if you say that you hate what starbucks stands for, it is a reasonable question to ask why.

if no one explained why they love or hate anything these boards would be really dull and useless.

Semantics. Lattes or any other drink is basically coffee and milk or cream mixed together in some sort of fancy way. And I know most of my friends and co-workers don't drink Lattes everyday and they spend that much on their coffee in the East Village at Starbucks.
I do know my old boss at Time Warner used to get some Venti something something something that would cost about $8 dollars the way he ordered it. But he made the big bucks.....

so you "hate" this company that provides products that your coworkers and friends like to buy? why?

if you don't personally like their products, i totally understand that. but you seem to be expressing something more than that when you say you "hate SB and everything they stand for"

But why would offering both drip coffee and espresso drinks be considered worse than just offering drip coffee? I don't understand why them offering more choices is considered bad.

I personally am not a fan of this decision. I don't care that they are having a partnership with Starbucks. I don't even care that they are putting a starbucks location in each park. The thing that bothers me is that they are using Main street bakery to do this. I don't know about all of you but visiting main street bakery is a huge part of my vacation. My mom and I always go there multiple times a trip and indulge in their amazing cookies! Yes i'm aware that they are simply nestle tollhouse cookies but they are a thousand times better than any other version of nestle tollhouse cookies I have ever had. Putting the amazing cookies aside they have a bunch of amazing, one-of-a-kind treats that you can't find anywhere else served the way they are.

Also, a Disney fan has started a petition to get disney to revise their starbucks plan to not change main street bakery into a starbucks location, please sign here if you feel this way as well.

What is the point of the petition? They only tell one side of the story. If Disney wanted more consumer research to judge reactions to this decision, they would do more research. Knowing that some people don't like the idea is not new information and does not tell them, on balance, what guests would think.

That's a good point, but actually the petition is probably going to be overlooked for another reason. If you read the petition from Disney's eyes you'll probably see it as a misunderstanding what is going to happen. It talks about not "losing that piece of Main Street Americana that is the Main Street Bakery". Is there really any doubt that Disney considers their plans to fully safeguard that Americana feeling of the place? The petition talks about wanting specific bakery items, but they're available elsewhere in the park, and Disney probably realizes how having both their own products and Starbucks products will appeal to more customers than having only their own products. So I think in the end the petition is going to be ignored just because of how it was worded. For it to be a petition that Disney would need to pay attention to, it would have to outline negative things that Disney would recognize as negative things. I'm curious about what those negative things could be though.

My only concern, their pastry goods are often stale. In fact one of the stalest croissants I've ever purchased was at Starbucks, it ticked me off so bad, I drove back to complain and return it! I told the Mgr. that at $4-$5 for latte's etc the least they could do is have fresh pastries! The only decent thing I've ever had, the lemon iced pound cake and the Marbled Chocolate pound cake! They have lousy scones, at least the 3 or 4 locations around work/home!And the sandwiches aren't any better!

One can only hope that if they are to replace a well known/loved bakery shop that they will be forced to do much better!

Hopefully no one will mess with the Boardwalk bakery!
YES, i agree with you about the nasty croissants at starbucks. Theyre awful! Their pastries arent very good. I hope to god they have decent pastries in the new location!

what are the characteristics that differentiate "having a store" from being a sponsor with product served prominently like Edy's or Nescafe?

Well, I for one am excited. As someone who brings her own Starbucks every trip and weeps at the lack of decent coffee in the Parks, I'm happy to see it happen.

I trust Disney to have it blend in.. and I'm sure they will make room for all the beloved baked goods. They'd be foolish not to.
