Last min. booking question...

Hello All!!

We booked a Dream cruise kind of last minute so excited!!.

We leave on Dec 9th (our last one we booked 18 months in advance, not sure I want to do THAT again!! Too long to wait!! ). We were not given the option to "choose" our stateroom during online booking. Can I call DCL and see what is available? Do I just wait until we arrive at the terminal?

Thank you in advance!

Hi, welcome to the cruise board. If you are booked in a GTY status, which means you could not choose your stateroom, you can receive your stateroom assignment anytime from now until you get to the port. You can't ask for a specific cabin location with a GTY.....when you book a GTY if gives DCL the right to place you whereever they need to to meet their inventory needs but it does not mean that you get a bad cabin or location.

As above, if this is a GTY or *GT booking, you do not get to choose a stateroom. If it is not one of these, you would have chosen on line.

You will see a stateroom assignment soon--on line when you check on your reservation or when you get your luggage tags in the mail would be the most common. Rarely, you may not see an assignment till you get to the terminal.

How do you actually book a certain room.???

Online it looks like you just book a stateroom in a cateogory, like oceanview 9A, etc...

How would you reserve a particular room?

Thanks
Chris

If you book early enough, when you select your category, they will offer you a selection of rooms to pick from. Or you can request a certain room, and if available they will reserve it.

Once a certain percentage of rooms within a category have been booked, the category goes GTY (guarantee) status and you can only select the category.

After you select a category and proceed with the booking, the option to choose a stateroom will appear along with a list of 8 available staterooms in that category (or fewer if there are not 8 open). You have the option to choose one of the 8 or put in the number of a cabin that you want checked for availability. If the category selected is at GTY status (where you can't choose a stateroom), that notification will appear.

Ok thanks, that clears it up for me.
I've always booked w/ my TA, because of the OBC. But I always research at the dcl site, but never follow through, so I didn't know that offer the chance to pick the room.

Thanks

Chris
