We were pretty underwhelmed by the food on the Dream (our first cruise). It wasn't bad, it just didn't "wow" us. We know several people who have cruised (albeit not on DIsney) and they all told us we'd just love the food on our cruise so maybe our expectations were too high. Don't get me wrong, we always had something to eat and never sent anything back. And I did get to try some things I don't normally eat, like escargot and wild boar. Everything seemed pretty bland and cafeteria-like. We have had much better meals at WDW.

The kids, however, loved it.

I haven't been on a disney cruise since 2009 but that was my third disney cruise and I thought that the food was delicious. I'm leaving on Saturday for the Fantasy and hope they didn't downgrade the food.

Are you talking about the pirate night buffet or something else? We had a crepe station on the EBPC about a million years ago, and they were the best I'd ever tasted. Since then, I've only seen them at pirate night. Please tell me they are now available at other times......

I think that is key and is true of most things in life. If you go in expecting to be blown away, you won't be. This is a cruise ship feeding 10,000 meals a day! You are not gonna get the quality and individualized/made to order meals that you might get at an upscale restraunt. I think some of the more upscale cruiselines might do a better job with the food so if upscele dinning is important to you, then you might want to book Palo or go with a different cruise line.

We've been on the Wonder 3 times, the Dream twice, and on the Magic for the first time at the beginning of September. I always found the food to be good to very good on the Wonder and Dream. However on the Magic it was poor to good. I was surprised. DM got the pork chop one evening and she COULD NOT cut it with her knife. The assistant server tried to help her and he had much difficulty cutting it also. I had the Macadamia Mahi Mahi (which I normally love on the other ships) and it was dry and not much flavor and the BBQ short ribs were mostly fat and gristle. I was also not thrilled with some of the buffet items. The breakfast and lunch food in Lumieres was pretty good.

We found the food to be decent to good. Though Palo was better! The enjoyment with me lies in the variety, the surroundings, and the fact that a bill doesn't not come with every meal!
(yes- I know we are paying for it though!)

I enjoy the food on DCL. If I had one request, it would be for more fish offerings.

The lamb at Palo I dream of... it is one of the best things I have ever eaten!!! Though most of Palo food is like that for me.

I was actually a little disappointed with food on the Dream in comparison to the Wonder. I tended to enjoy the appetizers/soups but not so much the main course (except the veal trio in AP). However, that could be to do with the menu choice I made; the tenderloin in RP was MUCH better than the lamb there.

Generally speaking I don't think it was that great in the MDR, especially the entrees, some were under cooked and bland others were just OK.

I know it is mass catering so wasn't expecting "gourmet".

Cabanas was decent enough though.

Biggest disappointment was the Mickey bars everyone seems to be raving about, to me it was just a cheap Nestle chocolate covered cheap vanilla ice cream bar!

I have never understood all the complaints about the food on DCL ship. While we don't eat at fancy restaurants most meals out, we do have occasions where we do go to a very nice restaurants in our area. So I feel we do know what fine dining is.

And while I don't think that every meal in the main dinning rooms is the best meal I have ever eaten. I have NEVER once felt that any one of my choices is something to complain about. I have enjoyed all of them. And some of the meals I have chosen I believe are really, really yummy (how's that for technical food critic talk?).

As far as the buffets are concerned, I have no complaints about them either. There is enough choice for me, that I don't feel like I am eating the same thing over and over again.

My thoughts exactly. I have only been on the Wonder, and the food was good to very good - Palo was excellent. As long as the food is delicious, nice and hot, and I don't have to cook or clean --- then that's a superb vacation to me

It might be worth mentioning that the food quality seems to have decreased over the years....just my opinion. I'm not sure if I'm reacting to some of my favorites being removed from the menus or if it is an overall thing though.

I'm also really curious about the Mickey Bars everyone raves about. Along with the chocolate chip cookies. The only frozen treat at the parks I think is amazing is the frozen banana. Have tried others but they don't compare to the ones at the Parks, just like I have yet to find a churro that matches the Disney ones.

But I agree that food on cruise ships has steadily declined for years. Still find it enjoyable tho. Still a lot better than some of the competition. Hmm, seems like DIS Boards blocks theme park reviews . com for some strange reason. Anyways, just search for their Carnival cruise review. Plenty of pictures comparing Carnival to Disney Cruise Line.

Good news.
Unfortunately for me I've had to go GF since my last cruise so it will be a whole new adventure. The upside is losing 30 lbs as a result.

both times on the Wonder, I thought it was average. Would have liked more variety at lunch.
