Eating at Sea World

We are two adults planning to go to Sea World after we get off of a Disney cruise on Saturday morning. We will need to be at the airport on Sunday by 4 o'clock.

We are thinking about doing the Dine with Shamu dinner that is $29.

Another consideration is the all day dining plan that costs $33.

Has anyone done either of these and can give me some advice. Is the food good at sea world?

We have done the all day dining at SeaWorld, and loved it. Tons of choices and really good food quality. We loved the fact that you could get an entree, a side (that doesn't HAVE to be a dessert...so you can get a salad, fruit, fries, etc.) and a drink every time through the line, or any combination of those three. We loved that it was truly unlimited.....as much as you wanted to eat throughout the day. And we loved that we could just run through and get drinks, if we wanted, any time we wanted.

If you have a two day ticket and were planning on visiting the park on both Saturday and Sunday, you could do the all day dining on Saturday (when you have the ability to spend the whole day and get your money's worth) and then do dine with Shamu for the noon seating on Sunday, before leaving for the airport. Then you wouldn't have to pick between one or the other .

We are doing Dine with Shamu on our Christmas trip. At $29, it was too good of a deal to pass up.

For our date in mid December, the Dine with Shamu is only offered at 5:30.

We will be at Sea World on Saturday from 10 o'clock to 10 o'clock. Sunday will be 10 o'clock until 3 o'clock.

I think the hotel where we're staying has free breakfast, so Sunday at Sea World we should pay out-of-pocket.

So the question is, for about the same price do we get "Dine All Day" or "Dine with Shamu"?

Seeing as we just got off a seven night cruise, we probably don't want to "pig out".

Tough to say. I think, if it were me, the deciding factor would be whether or not you minded being tied to a meal reservation (for Dine with Shamu) as opposed to being able to eat when you want and fit your meals in between shows and attractions. I will say that I consider DWS an "attraction" in the grand scheme of things, though, just because is something unique.

How much will you drink throughout the day? If you are looking at "value" for your money, that might be something to factor in. All non-alcoholic beverages will be included in your all day dining.

So crappy that the noon sitting for DWS isn't offered on the day you visit!!

What I like about all day dining is the freedom to eat what you want when you want and to go through the line as many times as you want during the day. Since you will be just getting off a cruise you may not want that many meals but you will get your money's worth from all day dining even if you eat twice.

I think the food at Seaworld is good - but it is theme park food. Usually they have some good fruit choices which I really like (strawberries with chocolate sauce) and I like their BBQ (I am from Texas originally and we have opinions about BBQ) - .

We loved Dine with Shamu, but I'm not sure of the exact changes since we did it, at the start of Feb 2010. We thought it was worth it for the food/show combo. It was about far more than the food! We all got more than enough to eat. But it was the show and having the Orca so close that was also very cool. (And I'm guessing changed some).

*Alcohol was included in DWS when we did it. I'm not a big drinker but I definately had a beer due to that! The kids had cocoa, which was perfect on that chilly day.

I highly recommend Dining with Shamu. The food was excellent, and we really enjoyed watching the trainers interact with the whales. We would definitely do it again.
