Help! Which deluxe to stay at over Christmas?
DH just surprised me with a trip to Disney over Christmas (12/25-31). Well, he got as far as booking the airline tix, but then was completely lost when it came to booking the hotel. So, he handed the planning to me. We've stayed at the BC in 2006 and CBR in 2009 and I think we'd prefer to stay at a deluxe over Christmas. Location is extremely important since we are going at the busiest time of year. We've decided to surprise our kids (ages 10 & 12) on Christmas Eve. Initially, I was leaning towards Poly for its theme and location, but I'd prefer two sinks in the vanity and Poly is a bit more pricey than the Epcot resorts. DH like where we stayed before (BC) because it is walking distance to Epcot and DHS. Soooooo....I need some help deciding whether to stay at YC, BC or BWI. I think it'd be fun to try a different hotel. Are there any major differences between these 3? And, for about $400 extra, is it worth it to get a Lagoon/Pool View? Oh yeah, I should also mention that my dad may join us, so I'll getting a room for 5 (he wil be last-minute due to health issues). Thanks for any feedback!

I think at this point you may want to call Disney and see what is left. Then make a decision about where you might be able to secure a room at this point.

Five in one room is very, very crowded. Just my 2 cents.

I am having a similar dilemma! We are going to WDW 12/27-1/1. We have our airfare booked and just switched from the Poly to the BWI. We are still torn with where to pick, as there is availability at both still, as well as the GF (another favorite of ours).
We were thinking the BWI is our best choice due to being able to walk to both Epcot and DHS. The BW itself is so fun at night as well. I know it is going to be super busy, so I am thinking that being walking distance to two parks will be very convenient. If you can't tell, I'm still torn! So, I am curious to see what others say on this topic.Have a great trip, what a great surprise for your children! ETA: We are a family of 5 (me, DH, DD21, DD19, and DD11), and we all are fine in one room. Yes, it can feel pretty crowded at times, but we are not in our room much. We find that it works out just fine...sometimes my DH and one/two of my girls will walk down to the lobby or around the resort when the others are getting ready.

We have stayed at the YC the last 3 Decembers and loved it. I think you would be happy at any of the 3, but in case you get some warm days I would do BC or YC so the kids can enjoy their pool. We have also stayed at BC and it was great, we just prefer YC. Have a great trip and enjoy planning!

If location is an issue I would choose an MK area resort. We find MK to be the most difficult to travel too in super busy times and like the flexibility of transportation at MK resort. If your Father does not join you Wilderness Lodge would be a great choice, lovely Christmas atmosphere. Grand also has lots of Christmas festivities.

We have staye at the BC/YC/BW and you won't be disappointed with any of them. We have also stayed at all 3 monorail resorts and for us they weren't our favorites because we love the convenient walk to 2 parks and all the restaurants in the Epcot area. Our fav on the monorail though was GF. CR in the wing felt like any other hotel anywhere, nothing special and the Poly was too dark for us. You won't be disappointed with any of the Epcot resorts.

I would definitely go for an Epcot resort, or the Contemporary. Anything within walking distance of a park. Otherwise, you could face long bus, boat, or monorail lines too often for that to really matter, if you ask me. I'd go for BC just in case there's warm enough weather for SAB.

If your kids love to swim, I would go with the YC or BC over BWI just because of the pool.

You guys are going to have the best Christmas ever!!!! Both have access to Stormalong Bay and are super close to Epcot. The BWI is also great. I'd say the pool isn't quite as good as YC/BC but that might not be a major issue since it's December. All three will be decorated beautifully for the holidays. There are lots of websites with info about WDW holidays. I'd start with these: http://allears.net/tp/holiday.htm and http://www.wdwinfo.com/holidays/christmas_world.htm and of course: http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/holidays/ You can also get a Christmas tree for your room: http://www.ftdfloristsonline.com/dis..._magic/display If you have any questions just PM me and I'm happy to help!

Speaking of the tree, we still have ours from 2007. It's always a special time to get it out right before our trip down.
That being said, location is the important thing at the holidays. This is our first year at a deluxe, and we choose CR for that very specific reason.

My resort choices would be different if it was just you 4 vs adding your dad. If by chance he doesn't go I'd def stay at the Wilderness Lodge even though it wasn't one of your choice. If dad goes I'd stay at the Poly. You can't beat the size of the rooms and the ease of the monorail for MK and Epcot with those crowds. If you can't swing that I'd go with YC for the balcony
