Since that happened about 4 years ago I am VERY VERY careful about disciplining my children in public.

wow- that's crazy-seems like there are some serious childcare issues going on-surely focussing on those who are ignoring/encouraging their childrens misbehaviour are the ones who need to be investigated?!

on our last trip to wdw, we saw a whole family climb over railings at dhs-the cm had to literally escort them back to the correct entry point-not only breaking rules, but dangerous-so if your parents behave in this way, well, what chance do the kids have?!

there were certainly many instances where children were unruly and the "adults" simply ignored them.

in por, i noticed many young children (under 10) wandering around on their own-i would never have let my children be on their own-in an unknown environment-even if it is disney.

We were at DHS yesterday and had just left VOTLM when a young girl (probably around 4) went barreling into a man's leg who was carrying his son. The mother of this girl FLIPPED out on this man right in the middle of the walkway screaming about how he needs to pay attention and so on. I'll give him credit for apologizing (when he had no reason to) to avoid escalating the situation, but DW almost turned around to say to this mother of the year'' Maybe you should pay attention to your kids. ''

That's awful! By 4 years old, a child should know how to respect other living creatures, I know mine does. But, if they did have a bad monent and even try something like that, I'd be all over it.

When I see things like that I feel sorry for the kid and want to beat the parents!

We were in Epcot in late Sept. and witnessed a similar event. DD and I were waiting outside La Hacienda while DH paid. A dad was using a stroller with his 4-6 year old daughter in it to chase ducks and hit them. Both dad and daughter were laughing hysterically. I noticed a CM standing at the edge of Norway and mentioned it to them. They quickly told him to stop or he could be escorted out of the park. He walked off, but given the attitude, I'm sure he continued his behavior elsewhere.

Last week, we were waiting in line at BTMRR with a posted wait time of 20 minutes but an actual wait time of probably 15. There were 4 kids behind us (looking to be between ages 9 and 12). As we were snaking around, the oldest child said "Come on, lets cut here" and were about to go under the chain. At that point, I said "excuse me, you need to wait in line with the rest of us". Occasionally, I would turn and glare at them.

We got to the area where the CM stops the standby line to allow for those with fast passes to go through. The CM allowed for us to go through. The 4 kids were stopped. I smiled as I saw about 25 people come through with fast passes.

Well as we were heading down the ramps, to get to the ride, I thought I saw one of the boys above spitting onto the people below...but wasnt sure. So, I kept my eye on him. I told my friend and soon enough, he did spit on the people below him.

Ughhhhhh...I was so angry. I have no idea where their parents were but they were not with them in line. I took that opportunity to teach DD8 and her friend DD9 about proper ettiquette. My daughter was so disgusted at those children.

On our first trip to WDW in 2011, we so the same thing in Epcot. We were at the American Pavilion and noticed a group of ducklings. There was a boy chasing them and trying to kick them. I hollered at the boy to stop and got up and stood near the ducks to make sure he left them alone. No parents in site. The poor ducks ran into the store to escape him. And he was not a little kid. I would say maybe 11?

I just could not believe that someone (especially a kid) would do something like that. It is heartbreaking. I have no idea where his parents were at.

I've witness plenty of bad behavior of both parents and children at Disney and have bitten my tongue although I do give the occasional glare that my DH says is scary. I don't think I could bite my tongue at the kicking of the ducks. I'm disgusted at the thought. Poor little creature. My children would never dare to do such a thing. One they know better and two, they wouldn't want that punishment coming their way. Our proven method of punishment in most situations is taking away privileges such as playing video games and watching tv. Kids these days think the world is coming to an end without those two things, lol. I think kicking a duck would be at least a month without those things. I'd probably make an exception and spank as well. Animal abuse can lead to far worse crimes according to studies.

I don't have kids but I can't understand how parents don't realize it reflects on them and their kids negatively when they have zero control. My girlfriend and I either saw parents screaming at their kids or just not paying attention to them when they are acting completely unacceptable throughout our whole trip.

I with you on that one. DH and I don't have kids either but we've seen too much unacceptable behavior and the worst past is, the parents don't seem to even be paying attention or even care.

Because it doesn't just happen at WDW. It happens every where you go, granted sometimes and places are worse than others. We love going to WDW so something like this wouldn't stop us. We've taken other vacations but for us our WDW vacations have been the best. I've been going for 20 something years now.

I see this frequently (kids chasing after and throwing things at animals, etc.) When I can, I just look at them with pity and say something like, "Why would you want to hurt that bird?"

I took this to mean why would parents who aren't even bothering to enjoy it with their kids. I could be wrong to the PPs question. I couldn't imagine other people's children should have too much effect on my vacation (or where I choose to go). It really does happen everywhere. We were at chick-fil-a the other day, and there were grade schoolers in the play area cussing up a storm. No parent in site. My two year old thankfully didn't repeat what they were saying.
