From what Disney announced today, the bakery is closing in January to be remodeled into a Starbucks location similar to that in DCA. It supposedly will cater to the Main Street themeing.

This is so depressing. We stop every trip get cinnamon buns and sit on the side walk. I hear a HUGE rant this week.

I've got a feeling we'll be kissing Starring Rolls at Hollywood Studios goodbye too. I think Disney is using the Starbucks inclusion in the parks as a way to replace their internal pastery making. We want to keep our Disney pasteries! Just not the coffee. My guess is part of the deal to bring Starbucks to the Disney parks was to only have Starbucks pastry in the same shop. If that was the case they shouldn't have moved it into the Main St. Bakery. Use another space in the Magic Kingdom.

What crack park exec is making these decisions over at Disney?

Somewhere in DTD

They already announced today that Epcot's Fountain View will be Starbucks-ized as well as the MS Bakery.

This so disappointing. Not only is it sad to lose an iconic place like the Main Street Bakery, I worry that the first thing people will see now when they enter the MK is some sort of Starbucks signage. How long until all the store on Main Street are replaced with outside vendors? Will the Emporium turn into Toys R Us? Baskin Robbins to replace the ice cream parlor?

While I enjoy Starbucks, and would welcome the inclusion of Starbucks locations somewhere in the parks, it is very sad to me that Disney would chose to give such prime real estate & close a Disney icon to allow an outside vendor such prominence.
