Dining reviews

Hi Everyone,
I have been perusing the boards for a few days and have been reading some of the restaurant reviews which I probably shouldn't have done. I am starting to second guess some of my choices.
If anyone has a few minutes can you let me know what you think of these restaurants:

1. Whispering Canyon Cafe

2. 'Ohana

3. 50's Prime Time Cafe

4. Tony's Town Square

Thanks

2. 'Ohana - pretty disappointing food. Beef was rough, pork was nasty, noodles and potstickers were dry, the famous sticky wings were slimy. The only ones that i liked were the bread, salad, chicken, and dessert.

3. 50's Prime Time Cafe - Food was decent. They have a good menu. Antics are hilarious. My chicken was good, a tad oversalted, but good.

4. Tony's Town Square - AWFUL! I would change this ASAP. Food was not good at all. Do me a favour, do a search for Tony's on these boards. You'll see the reviews and you'll notice that the majority of reviews are not good. I believe in trying things for yourself...but when the majority of reviews are negative, you really have to stop and think!

I know...I've read some review too and second guessed my reservation.

I went to 'Ohana 2 years ago and I though it was fun and food was good.
My kids liked the vegetables, pot stickers and noodles there.
I don't remember how the meet was but thought shrimp was tasty.
I have reservation there coming trip and still have time to think about it.

It was convenient since we stayed Poly last time but if you are staying at other hotel, maybe you can do some research on what is near your resort.
Also, Kona Cafe could be good choice as for food. 'Ohana breakfast was pretty good, and the characters are Lilo and Stich.

I initially booked for 50' PTC but read some review and changed it.
I mainly wanted to see the interior and someone mentioned you can still look at inside ordering shake or something at the bar area. So that's what I am going to do.

I would book Tony's because of the location, atmosphere and the theme of the restaurant. The food was not memorable but they have things my kids would like and I would make reservation around the parade time so we can just get appetizer or dessert and watch the parade go by. They are the best location as for eating and watching the parade! (You may want to request the outside seating)

'Ohana is still high on some of the reviews like Yelp and Trip Advisor.
You should read those reviews! I would say...you do once and see if you like it!!

1 - Haven't been since menu change. Okay, but not one I feel the need to repeat often (or maybe even ever since there are so many others I like better)

2 - Disappointing. I was so excited about this one, but ended up not really liking it all that much.

3 - Good food, solid, not my favorite, but you won't leave hungry or disappointed

4 - I have had good and bad experiences here. The good ones have been so good that they keep me giving it another try. The bad ones, well, it's nothing horrible, just not great or even good. It just is, if that makes any sense! Still, a nice location, good atmosphere.

You can indeed get a shake from the bar. That will give you the chance to look around. The theme is awesome!

First, in order to see the parade you have to be seated outside. And getting a seat on the patio isnt guaranteed because there are many ppl who want the same thing. Its a gamble. There are far better dining options inside MK. LTT, CP, and The Plaza are all way better than Tonys, IMHO. And as for the atmosphere in Tonys, I thought it sucked. It was cold and uninviting. Guess its just me? Lol. And im a huge lady/tramp fan!!

1. No experience
2. Food generally good, but can be loud with kids running through the aisles.
3. Food good, but nothing special. The atmosphere keeps us going back.
4. We liked Tony's the two times we've been there. Italian hubby enjoyed it.

Our Ratings of Whispering Canyon: (9/19/2012)

NOTE1: The eatery is known for its comic antics with the guests. The
amount of antics is based upon guest and server interaction. The food
is good and plentiful, but only average in quality. However, the endless
milkshakes are tasty and ample enough to give even someone with a
hollow leg a brain-freeze. Other than antics, nothing for which you to
go out of your way.

NOTE2: The eatery on 9/19/2012 changed the menu. Dinner is only the
all-you-can-eat-skillet, with no ala carte items available. Lunch no longer
has the skillet and is totally ala carte. In both cases, the endless milk
shakes are $6.99 and sodas are $2.99. Both are extra, unless you are
on DDP. Dessert sampler has "chocolate" cake, jalapeno-lime-cheesecake,
and an apple-cranberry-buckle which are shared family-style.

NOTE: Used to be highly rated. However, the food quality has severely
deteriorated over the past year. Additionally, the service is very spotty.
For food quality and service, select another restaurant. As a side, unless
you knew to was supposed to be Polynesian, you would never has guessed.
The kids might have fun at the eatery, but it certainly is not on our list
of eateries. Too loud, too lax, too low on the food quality scale. Too bad.

Our Ratings of 50's Prime Time Diner: (6/10/2012)

NOTE: We felt the place was overpriced with below average
food quality. However, the P&J Milkshake is not to be missed.
The antics of the servers was cute, but wore thin quickly. I had
the Blue Plate Special (a fish dish that changes seasonally). Mine
was Mahi Mahi and was far less tasty than I have had elsewhere;
it was also overcooked and "spongy". I love Mahi Mahi, especially
blackened, so I do have a basis for comparison. Although the
proteins (meat and fish) are below average, I have found the
veggies at 50's to be well prepared and really quite good.

Our Ratings of Tony's Town Square: (rev 9/20/2012)
. . . food price value: C

NOTE: Not something to write home about. Meat dishes are
average and Italian entrées are akin to CHEF-BOY-AR-DEE; well,
using CHEF-BOY-AR-DEE could be considered an insult to that
famous Cleveland, Ohio chef. The sauce may be tomato sauce,
but it is definitely not a marinara. The appetizers are average.
In a pinch, Tony's will do, but there are far better choices. On
the plus side, the desserts are simple, but pretty good. Hard
to justify going the first time, let alone going back.

My ratings would be as follows:
Whispering Canyon 2/5
'Ohana 4/5
50"s Prime Time 4.5/5
Tony's 3/5

Prime Time is nothing fancy, just good 'ol home cookin'! The fried chicken and pot roast are both terrific. At 'Ohana the meats are my least favourite part of the meal, but I really like everything else, especially the dessert!

For 'Ohana, I have had three good meals and 1 not good meal there. The not good one was a few years ago. It is far from my favorite restaurant at WDW, but the record there is good, especially recently.

50s Prime Time is fairly mediocre. There are some comfort food options there, but the food quality and presentation is not the best. I have not felt compelled to revisit it.

Tony's Town Square is... just bad. It is, by far, my least favorite dining establishment at WDW, ranking below any mediocre Quick Service restaurant.
