No one can agree, lol
We are doing a split stay for our 18 days in Disney. I guess since we are going to Disney for 18 days. The problem we are having can't be that bad. We are doing AKL since that is our home resort. We are trying BCV. My DS9 loves the values, so we are trying AOA, but staying in the Little Mermaid section. It is just going to be 3 of us and I do not cook on vacation so a studio is fine. I want to try a moderate so I picked POR thinking DD12 would love the Royal Room, which she does. When watching the Disney video she thought POR did not look fun enough.
What would be the best moderate for kids. If it POR, can you help me sell it to her. They are happy we are going and will stay anywhere, but I would like our first moderate to be a good choice.

We have only stayed at a moderate once, Port Orleans French Quarter. My kids were about 8 and 9 at the time, and they both loved it. It's very colourful! The food court was good, and the boat ride to DTD was very convenient. The kids enjoyed the pool too.

The pool slide, playground, food court, store, lounge, bike & boat rentals at POR are by far the best of the moderates IMO; add a royal room to that mix and its easily #1.
![]() If CSR had a great food court it would be #1 but it doesn't, so #2 IMO. CBR is beautiful, but no indoor lounge and double beds. #3 IMO. POFQ is very pretty, pool and slide are for little kids, food court ugly. #4 IMO. |

Here's my sad tale of woe....back when my now 19 y/o dd was just about to turn 6, we headed to WDW..our first trip ever. We stayed in Dixie Landings (now POR). We loved it. Then the second time we went, 18 mos later, we stayed there again..now it was POR.
Well....fast forward a few years...dd is now almost 10. We booked POR, but got a great deal on WL, so changed our reservation. Then we got a fantastic deal at the Polynesian. My dd had always wanted to stay there, so I booked it. She was over the moon!! Well, we arrived, and walked around the resort and checked it out. I asked dd what she thought about her choice of resorts, thinking she was going to be so happy. Well, that wasn't the case. Her words? And I quote...'Well, it's pretty and everything, but it just doesn't feel all Disney-fied like POR does. I kinda wish we had stayed there.' Just wanted to bop her on the head!!!! So, go ahead and book it. It's a blast. We still like it there. And we own at BWV and BLT, but love a quick stay at POR!!! |

POR is a wonderful, fun resort that my kids love. I love it because it gives a peaceful relaxed atmosphere that I find soothing, my kids love the pools, fishing spot even though we didn't actually fish, campfires, boat to dtd, and the rooms. We've been visiting to a few resorts and stayed at asmusic, but my kids threatened mutiny if we didn't go "home" to por this trip. I think she will find it satisfactory.

POR is my all time favorite resort. IMO, they have the best food court. We also love the docks and water, as well as the pool. They have gum machine type thing on a pier with fish food. It's really cool to throw the food in and watch the fish all go crazy and come to the surface. My kids loved that back in the day.
I've stayed at every WDW resort, with the exception of the values, which we have only stayed at one of so far. I get the feeling of being at home at POR, which I love. I can't pinpoint what makes me feel that way since I've felt it since the very first time we stayed there. It's just a very comfortable, happy place. Hope you all enjoy it as much as we have! |

Our DD12 loved POR! There's a hair wrap station, horse and carriage rides, a huge arcade (they even had free game time when we were there..). At 12, she's old enough to drive a Sea Raycer with an adult along. DD had a blast driving on the Sassagoula with DH. Movies in the courtyard at Oak Manor. Make-your-own yogurt parfaits at breakfast and salads and pasta at lunch and dinner. DD was not into Yeehaa Bob, but there were several kids having a great time watching and singing along.

POR is our fav resort! For the Royal Rooms, I would request Oak Manor, close to Old Man Island, it's closer to main pool, etc. and food court.
Love Bob Jacksons show at night, so much fun. Boat to DTD, Fishing Hole. The food court is great, love the make your own Pasta. I make a poing of having a lunch or dinner there at least once during our trip, even if I'm not staying there.
