Akl club level room recommendations?

Taking the wife and two kids next August to AKL for 7 days 6 nights. We have been to WDW 3 times previously: Poly, and 2 off-site. We have never been to the AKL and are excited about doing club level. We do have the basic meal plan. The kids will be 7 and 9 with a Birthday during the stay and the other celebrating one due to bday being 3 weeks later....Anyway, my desire is to be relatively close to elevator to lounge (I realize the rooms on 4th, lounge on 6th), and not too far from main lodge and transportation. I am willing to give up an amazing savannah view for decent view to make getting back from a long day at the park a shorter trek and getting to the lounge as convenient as possible. We have a standard club level room. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. Also, will the concierge folks be able to make such room recs when I call to talk with them regarding meal plans?

Thanks...289 days and counting!

We were on the Zebra trail. It was closest to the pool, Mara, and transportation. We were about 1/2 way down the "arc". When the concierge contacts you for your pre-planning assistance, tell him/her your requests.

The club level rooms are located on the Zebra and Kudu Trails facing the Arusha Savanna. The rooms are usually close to the lobby.

We usually request the Zebra Trail. The pool and restaurants are located on this side of the lodge.

You should contact the IPO with your room requests. Don't forget to tell them your boys are celebrating their birthdays on the trip.

Thanks guys. Looking at the map, I was considering Zebra Trail my first consideration. The pools, restaurants, lounge, and transportation are our primary needs. How long are each of those "houses" or "pods" on each trail? And where exactly is the lounge in the lobby portion?

As for the birthdays, not to worry, they will be well aware that DD will have birthday while there, DS will be celebrating early Sept Bday AND our anniversary is the week before we get there. First year we went, we spent first night at the GF and for our special occasions they upgraded us to club level..MAIN BLDG! Was amazing.

Have always had good luck with Disney Magic... Hope this trip is no different! Any specific room thoughts?

When you enter the lobby, the lounge is directly above. The lounge overlooks the lobby.

I couldn't find a better picture to show the lounge. This was taken from the back of the lobby. The lounge is on the top level.

The club level lounge is approximately right below where the word "lobby" is written on this map. When you get off the elevator you'll go around a little corner and it's right there.

We're staying AKL standard club level in June. Based-off your comment am I to assume we will have a savanna room because all club level rooms face the savanna? Sorry to be thick. I had assumed that we would see a roof or something and the benefit would be the lounge.

Also, we booked through a travel agent, will the IPO still contact us or will that go through the TA?

Thanks for the help. I haven't stayed at AKL since 2007 and this is our first club level stay.
