Any cruises being cancelled due to Sandy?

I would think Disney would cancel or postpone cruises during this Hurricane. I was just wondering if they have been cancelled.

You can read this thread to see that no cruises have been cancelled by DCL. They haven't been delayed either, at least not to a different day. Yesterday's Fantasy cruise left around 9 pm from reports.

I would think they wouldn't cancel just delay. Hurricanes can lose steam pretty quickly just as their strength can explode quickly. Weather is unpredictable.

The Fantasy and Dream leave from Port Canaveral. The bad weather has left that area now. The Magic leaves from Galveston, which was never in danger of the hurricane. And the Wonder leaves from Los Angeles, obviously not even close to Sandy. DCL will do everything in their power to not cancel a cruise. They've delayed and diverted cruises, but I don't think they've ever cancelled one.

The only two cruises cancelled due to Sandy were the 10/28 sailing of the Carnival Pride (Coast Guard will not let them sail out of Chesapeake Bay from Baltimore), and the 10/28 Carnival Glory sailing from Norfolk (which has been closed, and has a rather large flood gate they were anticipating to close).

While Royal Caribbean has not cancelled today's sailing of the Jewel of the Seas from Boston, they are delaying it until at least Tuesday. Will be interesting to see what happens beyond that. They are allowing passengers to board today.

Several other ships have changed return/departure dates as well from/to several ports along the East Coast.

I think so. I'm in Orange County and there was no mention of anything. In the Sunday paper or anywhere else. They had pictures of people at costumes surfing in Huntington Beach. It was all about Sandy.

Actually, I think the captain should have stayed away from the storm, even if the Fantasy had to stay out an extra day or dock at another port. The captain of the Dream managed to stay out of the worst of it.

The Port of New York is closed. The Norwegian Gem's arrival has been delayed and the ship remains at sea. The 10/29 sailing of the Gem has obviously been delayed.

Yep, watched all those ships go full steam ahead out of the harbor last night prior to that 6 p.m. closing! They were making it under the bridge in record time!

We were on the Dream and we did NOT manage to stay out of the worst of it. In fact all three of our days were very rough, with all outdoor activities and decks closed except for the main pool for part of the trip. Our last night was just as rough and terrifying as what the Fantasy went through. We just had the advantage of receiving the information from the Fantasy so the crew could prepare ahead of time and pack up the things in the shops before we got to the worst of it.
