18 meters, seriously or an exaggeration? I have been through "9 meters plus" according to the monitor in the lobby, and that was quite the ride, but 18?

We were really rocking last night and flying Around the ship. Disney offered us 25% off of a future 3 day cruise only....no other options. I feel like it was a bad decision for Disney to have even sailed period on this cruise. We called Disney before the cruise and asked if we could change to a different date and they said no. We were all sick...the weather and seas were awful....everything was closed and we couldn't even go outside or sit on our balcony...I was scared and felt that Disney made a bad call on this.
Did you have trip insurance? And if you did could you of opted not to go and get your money back?

One of our party did (there were three families traveling together) and they could not reschedule either. Trip insurance only covers things accident/illness/death in the family, not weather conditions.

That is why I added "Cancel for any reason" on my trip insurance.

Don't most "Cancel for any reason" riders only pay out half of the cost of the trip? Even so, I guess half is better than having to endure a miserable trip or lose all of your money.

We were in 30 foot waves, then about every 30 - 45 minutes we would hit a wave 50-60 feet, for three hours between 1-4am. I asked all officers I saw "What was the highest waves?" All said the same, to me, verifying my guesstimates. To make a ship that size move laterally like that, even when coming down nose first off a 30 foot wave, the height had to be over 50 feet.
No exaggeration. I truly hope a smaller wave wouldn't create the movement we experienced.

One of my friends was sailing with you, and also sailed with me on the one I mentioned, which was on the outskirts of hurricane Hilary on the west coast of Mexico in 2005. She posted on facebook that this was the worst she had ever experienced, so I believe you, just wanted to verify because the number surprised me....

We were in cabin 5500 back then, which is the first passenger cabin forward, and 9 meters up the crest of a wave and then double that into the trough was nauseating - double that, wow. Bring on the meclazine.

I got off the Dream this morning. Yes, crossing the Atlantic Coastal Current last night was horrible, but the motion the rest of the week was minimal for the size of the waves. We talked to the Captain Friday night and he commented that the classic ships would have been much more "active" in those seas.

I am a person who gets sick on roller coasters, and I only needed Dramamine the last night. I think the descriptions of people being sick everywhere is a little dramatic. Of course, people may have been holed up in their cabins, but they weren't in every hallway and club tossing cookies. The night coming back to port is almost always the worst due to the current.

My experience with seasickness is that I feel worse cooped up in my cabin than I do in a large open space or out on deck in the wind. I found that candied ginger works like magic on nausea, although it tastes nasty.

I keep seeing new posts and come back to see if there is any new info on CC, but everyone is just arguing about Nassau. Can you start a new thread to do that please? Or just look for an old one...

"Steer out of inclimate weather"- is that what you call that hurricane we went through??

As most of you have seen-the damage was crazy!! My daughter was in one of the clubs and at some point around 100am all the glasses on the shelf slid and landed crashing onto the ground shattering! The next tip of the ship led to all the liquor bottles heading down-which a castmember held as many up as he could and other passangers jumped behind the counter and tried their best to hold the remainder!! All this while tables and chairs were toppling to to outer edges of the room!

Back in our room-crashing glassware-fridge opened and drinks, milk and anything else went rolling across the room! Cabin bathroom doors kept opening and slamming as we were trying to get the towels our to clean up the messes that just kept happening with every lift of the ship!

I hope that the seas mellow out some for the future cruisers! No fun getting sick on vacation!

I don't know where you were because Thursday night and Friday I saw at least 6 people throw up in public areas including my child. Someone threw up right in front of Royal Palace, in the hallway on deck 8, in a garbage can right in front of the elevators and in the Walt Disney Theatre. I smelled puke everywhere. It was gross! The ship was rolling the whole trip. The only time it wasn't was Friday morning when we were down by key west. Why we didn't stay there I'll never know. Staying in the gulf and having 2 sunny sea days would have made all the difference. Why in the world did the captain decide to go back into the storm and try to go to Nassau? Even if we could have ported there the weather would have been awful and we couldn't have done anything there anyway. All of the decks were closed off and you couldn't even go outside. It was dangerous and scary. I don't want 25% off a future cruise. I want to go on the trip that I already paid for and be able to do the things that I already paid for. That ship should have stayed in the port. I know the Fantasy had one bad night but at least they got most of their cruise in. We couldn't get off or even go outside.....we were stuck inside the ship with people throwing up everywhere and everything being canceled or closed for the entire trip.

I agree with other posters, I have taken all of my cruises in hurricane season and it was a risk that have had to take. Out of my 4 cruises we have missed CC once, We have been through Noel and a depression that i don't think was ever named, but these are the chances i am willing to take to cruise the time of the year that i book. I have been through rough seas as well and i did not let it ruin my vacation. One of the cruises i went on we sat at Port Canaveral until 4 am after the morning we were suppose to head out so our schedule got all messed up, I love having the day at sea after CC but i know things change when you have to battle mother nature. When i was on the cruise with Noel and the depression DCL continued to keep the safety of the guest at their best interest. Although the seas were rough we had a GREAT vacation regardless....sorry your experience was not as good!

That was my 5 year olds puke in front of Royal Palace. I was a very proud mom! (insert sarcasm)...then he commenced to carry that into the night and morning. Not complaining but we should have never set sail. Trip should have been canceled.
