Possible Delay from Port Canaveral 10/27 Fantasy

10/27 cruisers,

My best friend is a manager at Art of Animation and a communication has gone out that Fantasy may not leave until 8pm from Port Canaveral due to the storm. DCL is supposedly calling all of us booked...they will decide by 8am tomorrow on what the plan is.

Trying to stay positive!!

Good luck! Better to leave late than not at all. I know DCL's first concern is your safety.

The Carnival Ships scheduled in PC tomorrow are extending their sailings and not coming in until Sunday now.

If they decide to delay until Sunday morning, would that delay the 10/25 Dream's return by a day/ take a day off the 10/28 Dream cruise (making it a Monday departure)? We are on Sunday's cruise and I know DCL will give us an update, but I was wondering if anyone knew how that would work.

DCL should be able to get both ships in at the same time if needed. Im not sure how far off the new terminal and pier are but the always have term 3 or 4. I forget which. Theve done it before having 2 ships in pc at the same time. Last time was the Fantasy and Magic this past March and before that was the Magic and Wonder in Feb of 10. The ship scheduled that day gets the terminal and the other goes to another. I know theres at least 2 more terminals that ships can use besides the reg terminals. It all depends on how many ships are planning to be in pc on the same day. There are at least 7 cruise ships that use PC on Sat and Sundays alone. 8 if you count the RCL ship that leaves on Fridays.

Interesting. I assume there is another berth large enough to handle the Dream/Fantasy, then. They aren't the largest ships sailing out of PC? It will be an adventure, for sure!

A friend just posted on FB that Captain Tom has said he feels he will be able to dock the Fantasy in the morning.

I had a feeling the Freedom was about the same size. Thanks for the info!

Yes. On the way out of the channel is terminals 1-4 just past the restaurants. One of them is occupied by the casino ship. I cant remember the number off hand but the Fantasy was tied up on o e of the others on fri March 30th while the Magic was preparing to leave. After the Magic left the Fantasy backed down the channel to terminal 8. The pier that the Fantasy was at was the same one the Magic was at in Feb 10 when she got stuck at CC and came in with the Wonder. The Magic loaded from there and followed the Wonder out.

Plus there is a new terminal and pier big enough to handle the Oasis class ships behind the DCL term in front of the Carnival terminal. It was pretty far along in March and should be just about done if its not done now.

Cool. I haven't heard that the new terminal was done. I had assumed I would hear all about it here. If an Oasis class ship could dock at PC it would be wonderful! Maybe soon . In the meantime, thanks for the reassurances everyone. I know everything will be fine, it's just nice to have a little encouragement.

For sure a delay. I know another cast member from shoreside DCL that is on board now, his wife emailed me and said the ship wanted to dock at 11am, but it looks like it will be 4pm. Resort buses will start heading to Port Canaveral at 430pm, and guests (this im not totally sure of if all guests, but i would think so...) are receiving room credits.

This is what Disney says about it...

Tropical Weather Update
10/26/2012

We continue to monitor Hurricane Sandy very closely as it moves through The Bahamas, passing just off the coast of Florida.

At this time, we are notifying Guests sailing on Saturday, October 27, 2012 Disney Fantasy cruise that there is the potential of a delay in the boarding process should the wind conditions prohibit the ship from safely navigating the channel in Port Canaveral on Saturday morning.

Guests sailing on the October 27, 2012 voyage are advised to check our website or call us at 1-866-858-7416 on Saturday morning for updates and port operation hours before traveling to Port Canaveral. Our next scheduled update will be posted by 9 a.m. EST on Saturday, October 27, 2012.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during any potential delay and look forward to welcoming you onboard.
