Any recent Hawaii one way rumors?

I remember reading somewhere a while back that Disney might consider a couple 7 or 8 day one-ways. I'm not trying to start any rumors but I am curious if anyone has heard anything like this recently.

Even if not, do you think they would sell well vs the Pacific or MR 7 day'ers?

Apparently Disney won't be back in the MR for a while since the crime and drug stuff worried travelers, which resulted in empty ships, which = ADIOS MEXICO! HOLA MIAMI!

The Wonder showed up on Hawaiian port calendars for Sept. 2013. DCL could've done two 10-night one-way cruises between Vancouver and Honolulu after the 2013 Alaska cruises end. Instead, they will reposition right back to LA and then to Miami via the Panama Canal. Unless DCL returns to Alaska in 2014, I doubt there would be even the possibility of one-way Hawaii cruises.

One way to Hawaii would violate the Passenger Services Vessel Act.

A ship registered in another county can not transport passengers between two U.S. ports with out a stop in a distant foreign county, stopping in Mexico on the way to Hawaii would not qualify as a distant foreign port.

It's a nice thought though, take the ship to Hawaii and stay at Disney's new resort.

This has nothing to do with Hawaii. The Wonder is still going to the west coast for Alaska next year so in theory they could go to Hawaii. They are not but they could.

The first one-way cruise would've been from Vancouver (Canada) to Honolulu. I don't know if the second cruise would've ended in Vancouver or Ensenada, Mexico - but both would've been perfectly legal.

Yes, this does qualify as the foreign port. We sailed on DCL's May 6, 2012 cruise from LA to Hawaii and back. Our stop in Ensenada, Mexico qualified as the foreign port on this cruise.

Foreign, but not distant enough for a one way.

Ensenada worked because the cruise was round-trip.

For a one-way cruise, Disney would either have to begin or end in Canada or Mexico.

Then how do you explain the Pacific Coast cruises that were offered by DCL?

Their foreign port stop was in Ensenada, Mexico.

That's not quite right either.

What is prohibited is sailing from one US city to ANOTHER U.S. city as the final destination without stopping at a distant foreign point. And no, Mexico and Canada don't count. The Pacific coast cruises were either round trips to and from L.A. or went from L.A. to Canada (or vice versa). None of those require a 'distant foreign port' stop.

What DCL can't do is sail from L.A. to Honolulu or L.A. to Seattle.

I fully understand how the PVSA works! When I clicked on the link above, I thought the PP referred only to the roundtrip Pacific Coastal itinerary from LA. Those needed only a foreign port stop, which was done in Ensenada. The one-way repo cruise from Vancouver to LA was between two different countries.

The Hawaiian one-ways that DCL could've done would've been from Vancouver to Honolulu, and Honolulu to either Vancouver or Ensenada.
