View Fireworks from Verandah?
Has anyone who has had a starboard side verandah stateroom ever view the fireworks from their verandah?
I'm on deck 6 of the starboard side. Just wondering if I will be able to see the fireworks from my verandah or if I'll have to be on deck to view them. Also.... on Pirate night, the Mickey's Pirates in the Caribbean party is from 7:45-8:05 (according to my navigator from my May 2011 cruise) and the Buccaneer Blast Fireworks starts at 10:30. What happens between 8:05-10:30 up on Deck? |

We just got back from a 3 night cruise on the Dream. Our room was on the correct side to see the fireworks (we were in 7684). We were able to see them perfectly! I can't help you with the times, though, because the fireworks on our cruise were postponed due to technical difficulties- they actually took place the night AFTER Pirate night at 7:45.

We got a notice in our stateroom asking us to be sure to not leave anything on our balcony OR to be out on the balcony due to risk from sparks.

It would depend on the ship, and your room side. If your on the starboard side of the ship on the Magic yes, you could see them but it would also depend on the wind at the time...its best to just go to the top deck..its really not that crowded..

We were in room 6558 on the Dream and we were able to see the fireworks perfectly from our verandah.
Nothing is going on from 8:05 to 10:30. This is when the second dinner seating is and the shows for the people who have the 1st dinner seating. |

Just off the Fantasy. Kcashner is correct, you are no longer allowed to be on your verandah during the firework show. They put a letter in your stateroom the night before informing you of this. We used to sit out on our verandah and watch. This was the first cruise we weren't able to. Our room steward said it is a new policy of DCL for all their firework shows.

I wonder if it depends on location. We were on the Dream in March 2011 in 6542 and got the letter telling is we could not be on the balcony during fireworks.

That could be. Our cruise prior to this fall was over 2 years ago. At that time we didn't get a letter and were able to sit on the verandah to view the fireworks. But our room steward did say that all ships are doing this letter.

How do they know if you are on your verandah or not?

That little boat, off in the distance, that tags alongside the ship during the whole cruise, waiting to catch people doing no-no's.
No seriously, there are strategically placed cameras that would see you if you approached the rail... they can see down the entire length of the ship, and they can zoom in. |

Umm....we JUST got off the Dream (Oct 18-21 cruise) and watched the fireworks from our verandah. No letter saying we couldn't. Also, there were families and couples all around us who were watching from their verandahs as well! We even saw one room host (who was turning down someone's bed for the night) step out onto a verandah and watch!

When we sailed in January on Dream they (CM's) actually told guests that were on the Starboard side that they would have a great view from their verandas. I booked starboard for our sailing this coming Sunday just for that reason. The upper decks are a zoo during the fireworks and my kids were falling asleep. I hope to let them watch from the veranda with their jammies on. Maybe this new rule depends on the winds or something. That may explain the inconsistencies.
