Fantasy Midnight or Dessert Buffet??

Apologies if this has already been addressed! Is there a Dessert Buffet or a Midnight Buffet on the Fantasy? I know some cruise ships have them just curious to know if the Fantasy does?

The only late buffet is on pirate night. When we were there on the 10/6 sailing, the buffet opened during the pirate party and ended pretty soon after the fireworks. DH wasn't very impressed with the offerings.

Yeah, Disney has never been big on nightly midnight buffets like other cruise lines. Makes sense, Disney cruisers are all in bed by 10 pm.

Other cruise lines have been discontinuing the late buffets as well -- people are too full from dinner, so a lot of food was going to waste. And waist.

When we went on a 7 night 3 years ago on the Magic, they had a dessert buffet at midnight that was pretty with the ice sculpture and sweets. We went for DH for this sweet tooth and to take a peek. But it was by no means what they used to do 20 years ago with the fabulous spreads and mounds of food.

We just came off the Fantasy 9/29 sailing they had something after Pirate night, and we didn't even go as we weren't hungry at all. I should go sometime just for educational purposes

No, sadly enough, they don't.

On the Wonder to Alaska in 2011, they had a WONDERful dessert buffet and we were really looking forward to something like that on the Fantasy. Boy, were we disappointed!

I'm not sure, but I think they have even discontinued it on the Wonder (read something to that effect on the boards awhile back).

There were some minimal munchies in the Europa area each night at 11, but these were not nearly as nice as those on the Magic.

No dessert buffet or midnight buffet. The only one was the pirate buffet.

There use to be a chocolate desert buffet in Lumiere's or Triton's at 11 instead of midnight. They discontinued that earlier this year.

Since DCL did not exist 20 years ago, I'm not sure what you are comparing. Who is "they?"

Until early this year, DCL had an 11 pm dessert buffet on longer cruises. We were told it was being eliminated due to the huge amount of waste. However, it wasn't well publicized! It was in the Navigator under "other food offerings," but if you didn't look......your server may or may not have mentioned it after dinner.

and its not a midnight buffet- in fact it shuts down before midnight...in the past they had the dessert buffet on pirate night that stretched till about 12:30ish....i did like the desserts they had but we take the late seating for dinner and really did not feel like eating again at 11:30....

I'm sure that poster meant other cruise lines and/or the industry in general. The first cruise I was ever on was on the Wonder back in 2000. I remembered prior to going on that cruise, hearing from all my friends and family members who had already been on cruises always talked about the wonderful midnight buffets - the ice sculptures, the dessert offerings, etc. It was apparently standard practice in the industry. So we were disappointed when there wasn't one on the Wonder. But, I also understand why they never did it.

A number of years later, while on a cruise on RCCL's Freedom of the Seas, we were talking with our server one night and and midnight buffets came up. He was telling us that they had pretty much phased them out completely (and that most of the rest of the industry had also). He said they first switched from doing them every night to a couple of nights only on a 7-night cruise, then they went down to once per cruise, and then eventiually eliminated them altogether. However, one thing I liked about RCCL, is that they have the Promenade Cafe - which is open 24 hours - so you can always get something. Plus, the pizzeria (also in the Royal Promendae) which also always had some dessert items, was open until 3am nightly I believe. So you still had some late night options - besides room service (I'm sure one of you Disney apologists was going to bring up room servive eventually) - available to you if you're still out an about walking around the ship late at night.

royal caribbean had one on our 7 night last month. A few years ago when we went, there was lots of food too (or maybe I don't remember correctly). This time it was just desserts and fruit.

Just off the Fantasy and there was a very small buffet of appetizers near La Piazza from 10:30 to 11:30. But it is in the adult district. And since it is after 9pm, no children are allowed.

Absolutely MCD!

Just referencing the cruise industry and ALL lines in general from 20 years ago.
