It's very family friendly. The kids love the show, and are welcome to get up and dance while it's going on. As for the beer, the pace of the entire experience (both the service and the meal itself) doesn't really lend itself to getting ripped.

I have to agree with the many, it is very family friendly and has a great atmosphere. I am not a drinker either and I would have to say there are just as many there who are not drinking (alcohol) as there are those who are. Also, while I am not a big fan of buffets, Biergarten is one of only two in WDW that I like (the other is Boma). Biergarten is always one of our must do ADR's.

I dont think the drinking or not drinking is really what that important of an issue. The food is good, the atmosphere is family. The show is cute, the ambiance is like being in a little bavarian village..

I say go for it! The different salads, and the schnitzel, hunter sauce, sauerkraut and brats are great!!

Well, thanks for all of the input. The family and I have decided to put off Biergarten for now and try Via Napoli instead. Turns out the alcohol wouldn't be the problem anyway. They didn't want to sit with strangers. With our luck it would be like re-enacting the scene from Planes Trains and Automobiles on the plane when Neil got that woman's hair in his food and he won't share his bun (look it up, it's a riot!)

Via Napoli also has a common, shared table right in the middle of the restaurant.

We've met some very interesting folks at Biergarten. That's part of what we like about the restaurant. And it is very family friendly. The first time we went, when the children started running around down front, I was shocked but quickly figured out that these weren't unruly children but children doing what they were supposed to do at the Biergarten. They were having a blast.

We always love Biergarten, too. It has such a happy atmosphere. The kids and adults enjoy the music. Very fun!

OP, better make sure they don't seat your group at the common table. right in the middle of the restaurant is a LOOOOOOooooooooooooooong table where they seat multiple guests. There was a party of maybe ten and several smaller parties of 2-4 seated there when we were there. They were right behind us.

Yep! I never understand ppl who avoid restaurants b/c of sharing tables? What's the big deal? We have met some really nice, interesting ppl in restaurant like this in Wdw as well as here at home!

I mean don't these ppl ever go to a Japanese steak house? Lol
