Where do you do your banking and do you like it?

I used to be a customer of Wachovia until Wells Fargo bought them out.

I loved Wachovia and hate Wells Fargo and do not care for the people who work there.

Today for instance, I put a check into our checking account and transferred money from the checking into savings.

I forgot to bring a blank check for the transaction, no problem, they gave me a withdrawal slip to fill out instead. I then asked for a couple of extra withdrawal slips and they refused to give them to me! WTH?

They have tons of Deposit slips that you can take but no Withdrawal slips?

I said to the teller "OK, we're allowed to deposit money but we can't take any out???"

She said we can take it out but we need to go to the teller for a Withdrawal slip each time!

Is this the new thing at every bank or is it just Wells Fargo's policy?

Another thing, I hate that I don't have a bank book. Yeah, Yeah, I know, I'm back in the Dark Ages. But I want something in my hands that shows I deposited money.

How hard is it to switch banks? Has anyone done this and how do you do it? Will the new bank handle the transfer for you?

I have Citibank. I love that I can deposit a check using my cell phone and it becomes available as soon as I do it. I used to end up hanging on to checks forever because I never go to the bank. And 7-11's around here have Citibank ATMs so I can withdraw money without paying a fee. Very convenient.

If I deposit a check with a teller and need some cash I just enter it on the deposit slip. I don't need a withdrawal slip.

Navy Federal Credit Union

Have been a member since I was a teenager (over 25 years now).

We love their scan deposit and web bill pay.

You might look into a credit union that you fit the membership requirements for as there are quite a few out there that are good.

Love Chase. Used them for years, and they just brought back the Disney debit card ( which gives you the same perks as the Disney visa with the exception of earning rewards). My sister just booked the play/dine/stay promo with her disney debit before it opened to the public, it works the same as the Disney visa.

I am also with a credit union, Desjardins. Profits are redistributed amongst members and also to the local community instead of going to shareholders. They also subsidize employers who'll give a chance to a kid with no work experience. Their web site is excellent. Also they still do small loans. Many banks don't bother anymore. Their interest rates are also quite competitive, but not always the best. Small price to pay for the service and their contribution to the local economy. So my advice is check out your local credit unions and stop contributing to bank profits.

I use a Regional Bank (Harris) and then Schwab Bank. I primarily bank via internet and mobile banking though so the things I like probably aren't what you want. I really can't remember the last time I was in a bank. Probably last year when I took our change jar in to be counted.

But I get

Free Checks (Schwab)
Free Internet Banking (both)
Free Bill Pay (both)
Free Mobile Deposits (both)
Free ATM use Nationwide (Schwab --- they refund foreign ATM fees at the end of the month)
A small amount of Interest (Schwab)

I was bought up by Wells Fargo too, when they bought out First Interstate Bank in 1996. First Interstate had bought out our locally owned Savings and Loan. Knew I would hate Wells Fargo, opened a new credit card elsewhere, prepared to find a new bank. Boy was I wrong. Wells Fargo has been great. Their online banking is awesome, their Brokerage services are top notch and have helped me make some very profitable decisions. My mom has been ill recently, and until then I hadn't been in a branch in years. They have a greeter in the 2 branches I go to. I am always there to deposit checks, with no cash back. They have a "floater" handle folks in line who don't need cash, I'm usually in and out in a minute. Wells Fargo has been amazing.

My company uses Wells Fargo, formerly Wachovia. Except for the location I work at and they use Suntrust. Working at different locations, I've made deposits at lots of (then) Wachovia banks. Most of them had awful customer service except for the one closest to where I work now. Everyone in that bank was wonderful, so efficient. The Suntrust we use here is the same. Everyone there is just great!
Now for my personal bank, well, I had Suntrust for years and loved them but got mad when all the new bank fees started (I had free everything before), so I switched to Douglas County Bank almost right next door to my job. Small local bank, only 2 branches, was voted best in Douglas County. HA! While I have all free accounts now, the customer service just sucks.....I always feel like I'm interupting the tellers when I go inside. They are always so engrossed in their gossip. The drive thru isn't so bad. I miss Suntrust, lol.

We use a local bank that has three or four branches in surrounding areas. Never had any problems.

I also was a Wachovia customer (loved them) that got switched to Wells Fargo (hated them and even more so when they paid my water bill late two quarters in a row). We switched everything to ING and love it. Free ATMs all over, mobile check deposits, the best customer service people ever ( they are SO friendly - always seem to get a super nice college age sounding guy). I highly recommend them as long as you don't need a brick and mortar bank frequently.

For everyday banking we use Woodforest. Been with them a long time. It is convenient, open late and some holidays and no fees. I live that they are in most Walmarts here.
For investments, etc we use Schwab.

I too use Wells Fargo (have had them and all the predecessors going back to, um, 1977 ) and really like them. The local branch where I bank (maybe in person every other month or so) has great tellers and "desk" people alike.
Our company credit union is not a full-service cu and therefore is mostly useless (except for savings) so that is not an option for me.

ETA OP, you wanted to make a withdrawl from your savings account? I don't have a savings account with WF but can't you use an ATM card to make that type of withdrawl? I think it gives you the option of choosing which account to make the withdrawl from.
