Question Would you use Priceline ??

Would you use Priceline for Car rental??.
I going to be in Orlando from Oct 27 to Nov 02. During that time I thought I would rent a car for 4 days(Oct 28 to Oct 31) . Has anyone ever used Priceline Car rental??. TIA

We have used hotwire ,which is basically priceline, several times with no problems. You find out the rental co after you book but it will be a national brand. It has always been cheaper then going to the individual co's website. you do have to pay up front the agreed upon price.

Would I, no. I only rent from certain companies. Keep in mind that sometimes the Hotwire size of car and Car company is different. There was a post on here a couple of weeks ago with that issue. I use carrentalsavers.com. I recently got a Premium car for $12 though Thrifty. Don't think I would have done better than that with Hotwire. Plus, it's not an outside company that owns the reservation.

Just my two cents.

I have used the Priceline Name Your Own Price in the past for rental cars, and was pleasantly surprised to find a very low bid was accepted. I think it was $18/day for a convertible for 9 days in February (including President's Day weekend). The taxes and fees charged on top about doubled the rental rate, though, so be aware that you will probably end up paying 1.5 to 2 times your bid price.

Having said that, I would not use Priceline anymore. I have been told by numerous sources in the industry that Priceline is not paying the hotels, rental car agencies, airlines, etc. in the fashion that was agreed upon. In some cases they are several months in arrears (we're talking in the couple dozen month range). I worry about the solvency of any company that does not pay their obligations, and in turn the solvency of the companies that are not receiving the payment for services rendered. It is so unethical of Priceline. Rant over.

Yes, and I have. I've used it in Seattle, Sarasota, and Tampa, and have gotten great prices and cars each time. It's the only way I rent cars. The closer you get to your rental date, the better price you can negotiate.

YES! We have had nothing but great luck with priceline car rental. We got really good deals the last two times there. We always choose the size larger car than we'd usually go with- because we know that some people have gotten a 'smaller' car in the category that is chosen. MOST times, we check in with the car rental company and they have us choose any car out of a certain row, so we can pick the larger car in the row if we want to.

Hotwire is a good way to go too. Both P.line and Hotwire are pretty good options I.M.O.

I would use priceline in a heartbeat for rental cars. Sometimes though I need to be able to cancel, and I have found that carrentalsavers.com have better rates than even hotwire sometimes! But before bidding on priceline, I always check hotwire and go a couple bucks below that rate for my bid.

Absolutely!

ETA: Holy cow! Your dates are ugly. I would make a backup reservation on Carrentalsavers to make sure that you have something.

Assuming you are talking about the "Name your own Price" where they require pre-payment and there are no refunds. I've used this feature pretty regularly and that is because I am not picky about any car I might end up with. There are also some risks to reserving a car through this feature, such as it is nonrefundable, you are locked into the price even if it goes down.

Priceline's regular car rental reservation system is just a reservation and these reservations can be cancelled.

I recently used Priceline name your price for a car rental at SFO over Christmas. It saved me $200.00 over other prices I found using all sorts of discount codes. The rental is through Avis, which is one of my preferred agencies.

I have used Priceline name-your-own-price for both hotels and cars MANY TIMES. I only bid if I can get a real low-ball price, and I always compare prices before I bid . . . and I've been thrilled with the results. I'm willing to give up a bit of control for great prices.

We have used priceline, hotwire, travelocity, carrentalsavers (which is run by travelocity I think?) all with no problems.

You can't cancel so that's something that's a little , but I have found GREAT deals renting cars this way.

I just used priceline for a rental car in Charlotte last week. Couldn't have been easier. Note that there is a fee for using it (not sure if it's a flat fee or based on what you're paying).

Also, while it doesn't give you the exact company, it gives you a list of 5 or so that it might be. I saved more than 50% than booking regularly. And when I got there they were out of compact cars so I actually got the next size up.
