Morning gentlemen. Just signed the kids up for gymnastics starting after Thanksgiving. Mondays at 5pm. Looks like I'll be making a lot of crock pot dinners. We thought of putting DS into martial arts but there isn't a studio within 20 miles.

She then lied saying I gave her permission to bring it Youngest jumped on DW's back while she was bent over picking something up, ended up pulling something, so she's in a lot of pain. All this, while I'm at work.

Then DW gets a call from her mom, she and her step-dad were broadsided by a deer tonight. Yep, they didn't hit the deer, the deer junped into the side of the car. Thank goodness they had slowed down just before it hit. Both are fine, a little shaken, driver's side banged up pretty good.

On the plus side though, Amelia was awarded her first four achievement badges from Brownies! Good on her...now just needs to focus on schoolwork.
We've been having one of those months with DS#2. On Tuesday night, he had basketball tryouts from 8-9pm, which is kind of late for him. But on the way to basketball he announces that he has three chapters to read in a book for tomorrow. Okay, ripped him out for that one since he had been playing Minecraft for an hour before leaving for practice after supposedly "finishing" his homework. So we were 15 minutes early for practice so I pulled the book up on my iphone kindle (Isn't technology great? Could just sync it from his kindle to mine!) and as we're going in to practice he announces that he remembered a math packet that we forgot.

Before this, we've been having problems with him doing a sloppy job on assignments, so we had been checking his homework, but now we're back to checking his planner for assignments, too. Oh, and no more Minecraft. Parenting-not for the squeemish.

And I forgot to add that we have to go into school today for an emergency team meeting for DS#1....

Oh, and DD needs braces now, not in a year like we thought...good thing DS#1's braces are paid off this month. Just in time to start paying for hers...

Thanks Scott! Makes sense... and good point on being able to listen to anything, anytime - I hadn't fully figured that out and thought I was stuck listening to the 10 I had chosen as favorites. What a great selection!

Can't wait for next year's first no-stroller trip since our honeymoon trip. While I will have a backpack, it's going into a locker each day, (mostly changes of clothes just in case, spare shoes for DW). Anything going right into the park is either in DW's purse/satchel or my cargo shorts pockets.

DW hates things in her pockets, so she'll carry her phone and camera at least. She's happy with a purse

It really does help as they both come home and get right to work now. It does take a couple of weeks to get into a good pattern and our events don't begin until 5PM. DD struggles as well, especially with math. DS is a freak of nature (think rain man). Never forgets anything, limited studying and finishes his hour of homework in like 12 minutes. Loves to read as well. We keep thinking maybe we brought the wrong one home, but he kind of looks just like me.

And for those that enjoy hoops, DD's team won 6-2 last night and she scored 4 of the 6 points. Yup, guess who is a proud dad this morning.
Congrats!

Yeah, she'll get out of this, she worked hard when she really struggled, we'll get through this. She just wants the play and goof about with her friends rather then focus on the task at hand. We had been doing the no-tv till homework thing, but let it slide a bit when she was stil going strong. She is easily entranced by tv and easily distracted by tv, commercials, shiny things and squirrels. I really just want her to get her mind on track.
Another issuue we cannot avoid is I'm not able to help DW keep on top of things 1/3 weeks, due to my night shift rotation. Can't avoid the nights.

Sorry to bring up old posts... I wanted to respond yesterday.

I guess the problem I have is the fact that the APR went up for this year leaving UConn under the 930 requirement. So they are getting punished for players who aren't even there anymore. I cannot see how UConn is the only BCS team to have their postseason taken away.

(taken from the internet) If the 930 postseason ban had been in effect for the 2011-12 season then 99 teams would have received postseason bans.

UConn Basketball has had so many players leave after their sophomore or junior season in recent years which has not helped their APR. So what is happening at other schools? You telling me Kentucky (no offense Norm) is over that standard? I guess since UK players leave after their freshman year, they can pass their basket weaving class without a problem.

I don't disagree with you at all that the system is an issue. My opinion on how flawed the systems are was further down in that post. And it is for all major men's sports, not just hoops. Look at football. Now Oregon is under investigation for recruiting issues. It never stops. They pick on the ones that are high profile that they have beef with and leave the others alone. I'm not sure what Calhoun may have done to make his program more of a target, but someone certainly wanted to make a point. As I said, I like Uconn's program. I was just pointing out that because others are not penalized for doing the same or similar things doesn't mean that they didn't do anything wrong. I do feel your frustration. Maybe Norm will take you to a UK tournament game and buy you a couple of beers? I unfortunately will be avoiding BC in the NIT.

I think the NCAA had it out for Calhoun for a while. He is very vocal and doesn't hold anything back. I don't remember specifics but I know he has laid into the NCAA on a few occasions.

Not sure if the tourney is in NY this year but maybe Norm will take me there..

Hey at least BC will be playing in some kind of tourney.

No offense Chris, but I'm glad the Doc is having the same type of problems. Oldest dd (10) in 5th grade has dance class twice a week and is student leader once a week in another dance class (total 3 days a week). Now until the end of this month are extra practices for Nutcracker. She is a soldier, which means more practice time. She is doing same stuff with homework. Grrrrrr.....

None taken. Cal has been upfront about it from the start. Play 1 year for UK with other pro players and I'll try to get you in the NBA. Many years ago, I had a cousin in a car accident with a UL basketball player (his fault). While they waited for police, they exchanged info and cousin said UL player couldn't read info from insurance card.

Already said I'd build David a guest house in Golden Oak if the lotto amount is enough. Now you want tickets in NY? If I win the big enough lotto, then you got it.
