How Scary is Ghost Galaxy?

So, I'll admit it, I am a sixteen year old girl and a total chicken. I really hate haunted houses, haunted corn mazes, anything of the like. Although, I love horror movies. Weird, right?

Anyways, we are going to Disneyland this fall, and Ghost Galaxy will be in affect. If it was another ride, I wouldn't bother, but Space Mountain is one of my favorites. Is it actually scary? Or will I have fun?

From what I remember a few years ago, it is pretty much ghosts that are on large tv like screens. Because of that it made me really sick

If you love Space Mountain anyways, you will be fine

If you're really nervous you could try looking it up on YouTube

They are not happy Disney ghosts... but I didn't think it was that scary... it just kinda surprised me... the ghosts were more malevolent than I thought they would be.

Isn't the scariest thing about haunted houses, corn mazes, etc... the suspenseful anticipation that something will grab you? Nothing like that will happen on Ghost Galaxy. Nothing touches you at all! It's just Space Mountain with different music and animation. Basically, a giant space ghost that "sees" you and follows you around as your soar through space. He reaches for you, his space eye watches you, it's creepy-funny (IMO)! I love it!

The ghosts are more like demons. Look it up so you know....the faces are huge in there, but you can always close your eyes.

If I remember, There is also a different soundtrack that is spooky. I am a chicken (can't do horror movies, etc) and I had no problem.

I did it last year, and didn't think it was too bad. The ride is just the same, of course, it's just the backgrounds that are different. Mostly it's just pictures of this weird ghost, who is made up of different planets and stars, etc. I kind of didn't get the space ghost idea, so that made it considerably less scary. If you are sitting there pondering why such a thing would even occur to someone's imagination, you can't be too scared
There is one part towards the end when the ghost kind of "jumps out" at you, but it wasn't too bad. I think if you like the ride, you should give it a try.
That said, I am skipping it for my DD3 this year, even though she is finally tall enough to ride. I think it is probably too scary for her. She loves roller coasters, but the atmosphere may be too much. But maybe we'll YouTube it and see!

It's not so much scary as it is eerie and disorienting. I have no issues riding SM, but when I ride SMGG, I lose my sense of balance momentarily afterwards and have been told I am not only.

HTH,

My daughter rode SMGG for the first time when she was 5. I rode first, told her what to expect and as others posters have said - if it is scary for you - just close your eyes. She LOVED it. It is a pretty creepy ghost (definitely not Donald Duck in a sheet) but I loved it for Halloween. I also like that my least favorite part of SM (when you are climbing through the tunnel at the beginning and you the lights make you feel like you are spinning) is just lightning during SPMM

This is so subjective. I didn't think the Ghost Galaxy was scary at all -- just a bunch of video. But admittedly, I'm really not a fan of Space Mtn.

I didn't really think GG was very "scary", mostly because the glimpses of the ghost (definitely more like a demonic spirit) are so fast. For me, by the time I realized that the ghost was on the screen, the ride had moved on and it was gone!
