New years eve at magic kingdom

We are thinking about going to visit my grandparents in Florida over Christmas and now that we are annual passholders and that close to Disney we are thinking of spending new years eve at Disney. What are the crowds like? Is it really not worth it to experience it. Should we wait until the end of the week to visit disney instead? Any opinions are appreciated. My kids are used to staying out at the parks late so that wouldn't be an issue. Tia!

We're planning it for the first time this year. And from all I have read on these boards, the crowds will be INSANE!! Just be aware that it is likely at some point during the day the park might be closed to new entries (even if you have a dinner reservation). It gets THAT crowded. But we are not deterred! We want to be there in the thick of things.

Not trying to dissuade you at all, just passing along others' reports. So if you do think it's workable for your family, plan to get there very early and stay all day. We also will be there into the week, to have some slow time after the frantic time.

Hope to see you there!!

We are coming for our first Disney Vacation that week as well! I am sooooo excited! I have read it will be tons of people, but I can't wait to watch the Fantasy In the Sky at midnight!
