Parking with an Annual Pass Voucher

Leaving for the World in 2 days! Woo hoo!!!

I bought my first Annual Pass this year and received the voucher in the mail. Will I be able to get free parking if I am on my way to the gate to exchange the voucher for the actual pass?

I sure would hope so. You could always redeem it at Downtown Disney since its free parking there.

You can ask nicely.

But, it doesn't matter, because if you pay to park and keep your receipt, Guest Relations will refund your parking fee (if you ask) when they give you your AP.

I definitely recommend asking. If not like robo says- they will refund it.

They will charge you - and asking nicely doesn't tend to get you out of it.

It's incredibly stupid and prickish to guests, so I'm an advocate for side-stepping it, Disney-be-darned. My response is "if your policy wasn't so stupid and self-serving, this wouldn't be necessary."

Ways around it:

1. Downtown Disney.

2. Epcot almost never has it's parking booths open after 6-7pm. They just have signs up saying to drive to your destination. This also applies to early morning if you're willing to try and drive in early and wait a bit for the park to open.

3. Argue. Just flat out argue.. and when they give you "tude" say "Fine, I'll wait here while you get your manager" - parked in your car at their booth. Considering they don't charge CMs and they don't charge APs and usually don't verify the date or anything on the pass - you could in theory hold up a business card and get through without paying - they have about zero ground to stand on. You don't need a parking pass to be parked in a lot and no cars are ever towed (APs and CMs don't get them when they do show their credentials).

4. Magic Kingdom Resort entrance. "I'm going to the Contemporary!" Use the left-most "Resort" lane and then just merge. Screw them.

And thus concludes my guide to not giving Disney money for no good reason.

I think this is the best answer.

Show the voucher to the parking attendant. Every time I have had to exchange a voucher for an AP, the parking attendant accepted the voucher for free parking. But as PPs said, if you have to pay, keep the receipt and get a refund at Guest Relations.
