I can nicker too, but I'm not nearly as embarrassed about that

Apparently generations of young children have been creeped out by the Daleks, so you're not alone. But coming into the series as an adult I kind of just find them silly. I mean, they've got a toilet plunger sticking out of their fronts. I just can't take anyone waving a plunger at me in a threatening manner seriously.
Now the weeping angels are a bit terrifying.

Weeping angels scare me.
Old school daleks from pre-9th doctor scare me because of how low technology it is.

I think by the time I found the Doctor, it was too late and I was too old to be afraid of the Daleks - no hiding behind the sofa for me!!!! LOL!
The Weeping Angels, on the other hand, now they creep me out!!!!! If I were good at costumes and make up - I would be a Weeping Angel for Halloween!

Eh, not really. Whenever they face them I can only think "Guys, just snap the plunger off. You're good."
I think it was in "The Stolen Earth" when the Daleks show themselves and Captain Jack just hugs Gwen and Ianto and with tears in his eyes says something along the lines of "There's nothing I can do, we're all going to die." Sarah Jane Smith is crying in another scene, and everyone else is freaking out. I was just like, come on guys. Really? REALLY?! Now the weeping angels freak me out, except they don't really kill you. The Silence scared me more than anything.

I was telling DH the other night that I cannot believe how much the weeping angels creep me out. And yet, they've got to be the most low tech special effect EVER. See a statue, turn out the light, turn the light back on and have a different scarier statue. It sounds ridiculous but they really are creepy.

I have already told DH, when we have a house, I am SO putting a Weeping Angel in the front yard.
As far as a Dalek...yeah, it's an oversized salt shaker with a toilet plunger attached. But maybe I'll put one on the front lawn as well. Might as well throw in a Cyberman while I'm at it...

My daughter is dressing as a weeping angel for Halloween. Blink was the best ever episode.
The Daleks make us laugh. I love their voices. |
