10 year old and the shows?

My son will be a "very cool" (in his mind) 10 year old when we cruise in March. I look at the shows and I can already see the eye rolls and hear, "That is for babies!"

For those of you with boys this age, do they typically like the shows? Have you experienced the same thing before the cruise and then it was fine on the cruise? Do you just skip the shows?

When we cruised in June, my DS was 11.5 and he enjoyed all of the shows. It was our first cruise and we pretty much did everything as a family. It's not that he didn't have a choice about seeing the shows or not, I just don't think it crossed his mind to do anything else. He wanted to be with us and looked forward to the shows, especially the comedy night that was with Alfred and Seymour (it's probably a different act on your cruise). Also, I don't remember talking about the shows before we cruised, so my DS didn't have an opinion about it one way or the other beforehand. HTH.

The shows are appropriate (and have something in them for ages 1 to 111. Don't let him miss Golden Mickeys. Tarzan climbing a rope on a moving ship is nothing short of amazing (and he has a great bod too....) Do be aware that there is an optional replacement for this scene if the seas are too rough for safety.

I second that. My 11 year old LOVED Tarzan. My son is a bit of a monkey as it is so he really loved that scene. Couldn't get my 13 year old anywhere near us the entire cruise though.

Thank you for the replies. It is good to hear that your boys did like them! What exactly are the shows on the 4 night Bahamas Dream cruise? Where is it listed?

I don't believe they are listed. But for us in February we had:

Day 1) Golden Mickeys
Day 2) Villains Tonight
Day 3) Nothing (Pirate Night)
Day 4) Disney's Believe

They are probably due for a change up soon. At the end of this year they will have run this schedule for two years straight.

Have a wonderful time!!!!

Don't hold your breath for a change in the shows unless they just shuffle them among the ships. On one of our platinum tours we were told that given the cost of mounting a new show, they had to run for 7 years to meet the budget!

We were on the Fantasy a week ago (wish I was still there) and my 10 (almost 11 year old) went to the shows with us and enjoyed them.

The only one that wasn't a favorite for all of us was the first night's show...

Both of my sons LOVED Villians Tonight and the comedy show Alfred and Seymore. They were 9 and 10 at the time of our cruise. They thought Believe was ok but we actually LEFT during the Golden Mickeys. They just thought there was too much singing and it just wasn't enjoyable for them so we left.

When you say the first night do you mean Alladdin? I think that is actually the second night but I did not see anything on the Navigators I looked at for the first night.

On our last cruise, my nephew was 7 and did not care for the shows at all. We went to all 10 of them as a family but he made it well known he was not happy about it. He will be 9 on our December cruise and asked if he could go to the kid's club during the shows and pick another activity to do with the family. He is not looking forward to 14 nights of shows. He doesn't care for the shows in the parks either. Each kid is differant.
