Hi Kat. I'm so glad I happened upon your comment regarding a new TR on another TR - or I may have missed this one entirely.

First, I am so sorry for the passing of Mark's Mom. I need to go back and read your PTR to catch up on all of the family matters. If it's OK, I would like to t PM you sometime regarding your Mom. I do wish you the best!

My Mom currently is living with me, and I spend my time with her 24/7. She has Alzheimer's and I know the day will come that I will have to place her into a nursing home and may also be dealing with behavioral problems. We have had to delay our vacation until Oct. 2014 since I am the lone caregiver of my Mom, and there are no options for respite care.

Is there some way of being notified of past favorites having a new PTR/TR?

Looking forward to hearing about OKW. (We'll be returning to Coronado.) Looking forward to reading more - take all the time you need to do your TR. I agree though, it could be theraputic and a great release to the stress in your life. Nothing like reliving your experience from the most wonderful place on earth!

Hi Kathy! I know you have a lot going on right now so whatever pace - if any - you need for this TR is fine with me. I'll be here cheering you on and wishing you all the best as you deal with the situation with your mom and her health.

Thanks for sharing the photos of OKW - I don't think I've seen many photos of the resort. We've debated a breakfast at Olivia's sometime ... we'll have to see more reviews before we decide.

Take care.

I love this picture! That looks like me trying to see my phone.

I think I read this update before work one day, but I don't think I ever commented.

anyway - yeah for first class and arriving so nice and early!

Sorry your check-in at OKW was less than magical. I think it really adds so much when you have a warm and welcoming CM check you in. It just sets the tone. I agree with you, OKW in general has such a wonderful vibe.

I hope you end up loving your room location.

Yeah for DTD!

But I'm curious if you accomplished your mission... I say you did lol

I'm sorry to read about the issues with your mom Kathy. I remember going through similar issues with Judy's grandfather number of years ago. It's so difficult. Hang in there.

Kathy, So, So sorry about the issues you are going through. Even though we have yet to meet IRL please know I am thinking about you and saying a prayer that you can get the strength to cope with whatever comes your way. I know a little about what you are going thru my husbands aunt lived with us for 7 years with dementia and it was just after she passed that I came down with cancer. Often wondered if it was the stress. Please take care of yourself too. Elaine

I'm so sorry about your mother and your husbands mother.

I was just going to say, I have laughed at every picture of your husband. I think it's great to see a grown man enjoying himself on vacation (especially Disney vacations). And seeing the pictures of your vacation has put a smile on my face.

Thank you so much for the hugs and for being there...it means the world to me.

She probably went to Starbucks instead of Dunkin Donuts.

This seriously cracked me up.

Welcome to the Happiest Place on Earth!
This was after the FIRST of numerous phone calls from my brother about health issues at home.

You don't happen to remember that CMs name? On the DREAM we wound up meeting a very nice OKW front desk CM, who offered to help with anything we would need. If you can remember her I can pass it on to her.

Sorry to hear about your mother. That is just so hard to go through, especially after Mark lost his mom such a short time ago. Lots of for you!
All I remember of her Karin is she was young, foreign and not pleasant. But maybe I'll email you before we go in August and you can put in a good word for us and maybe we'll get one of those "one-bedroom" upgrades for our 30th anniversary.

It's been a really rough week, and even harder the last couple of days.
Thanks for the hug.

You don't look happy after check in. Hope the rest of the day went better.
Thank you. I wasn't happy with the CM, but the look was from the phone call.

Glad y'all made it to OKW even if the check-in wasn't the best. I will have my own tale (eventually) in my TR about our check-in there.

Hope the mission to DTD was a success!!
Thanks, Amanda. The support here helps, trust me.

Uh oh...your tale doesn't sound goo.

It's a nasty disease and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

I had to giggle to myself when I saw your "after check-in photo" as that is exactly how you looked when you were sitting on the bench and I was scared to approach you! (knowing you were there with heavy hearts, etc.) Also wanted to add, in Mark's picture of the pool and lounge chairs, my Mark and I are on the very last two to the right! I am actually sitting in the one with the towel hanging over the back of it. LOL!!! Too funny.

Hang in there, friend. xo
Traci, thank you so much for the support and for the understanding. I am sorry you are going through it too, and I'm with you, I wouldn't wish it on my worse enemy.

I havve to go back to those pictures and see if I can spot you.

I'm glad that despite my look you stopped; I would have been so disappointed if we hadn't met. That "meet" should be in the next update.

As for the cast member....the look on your face says it all. We had a similar CM at POR and the Poly - I hoped they were just having a bad day, but POR seems to be rather notorious for rather crabby front desk CM's...and I've heard other check-in stories about the same Poly CM. I do everything to lighten things up and get a small smile...but those two were hopeless.

We are all here for you, Kathy...if you take a break from the TR, we'll be here for support...feel our love.
Christine, thanks for the words of comfort...it means a lot.

It wasn't the CM for the look (that would come later), but for the phone call from home.

Thanks again for the support.

Escape, dreams and memories of happy places are something to hold onto, especially now. Hold on to that countdown ticker too, it will help you persevere. While I do believe He doesn't give us more than we can take I can only imagine you feeling tested and pulled beyond belief. You are amazingly strong and while I'm sure it doesn't feel like this right now, I know your mom is blessed to have you trying to navigate this for her, even if she isn't aware of it. Thank you for sharing with us and knowing that we are here for you.

The expression on your face post check in is priceless.
Cythnia, thank you...I wish it would go away too.

We are going tonight to an Alumni Dinner for the high school wrestling team (Mark and Alisha are coming in because one of his good friends is being inducted into the Hall of Fame), and I'm actually looking forward to it. I decided to take a day "off" and relax and enjoy.

I had that face a couple of times this trip, unfortunately.

So sorry you are going through such a difficult time keeping you and Mark in my thoughts.
I do have great boys, and I'm sure yours will be great too!

I have a terrific boss.

I don't drink straight coffee most of the time...I drink Cappucinos; but I'm with you, LOVE the fraps.

Thanks for keeping us in your thoughts.

Lisa, I had no idea about your Mom...I am so sorry. I would be happy to hear from you at any time.

We LOVE OKW (and despite what you'll be hearing in this TR, we still do). We also still love Coronado and can't wait to be back there for Mark's surprise trip in December.

I don't think there is any way to check on "past favorites." I think you'd just have to search their name.

Jenn, thank you. John was a jerk...nuff said.

You can afford OKW...you just have to rent points. It was cheaper renting points than it would have been staying at CSR. PM me sometime and I'll tell you about it.

I believe you might be right about us accomplishing our mission...you'll find out for sure in the next update.

Sending virtual hugs...you know I love you and my heart is breaking right along with yours. I am so glad that you are going to write your TR, it will help you cope with real world.

Promise I am reading and following along, heck you tell me everything on the phone but its fun putting the pictures together with the stuff you told me

First class is amazing isnt it? I have been fortunate to get upgrades when my family worked for USAir and it was incredible, so hard to fly any other way! They gave me slippers, sleep mask, hot towels for my hands, warm nuts, hot baked cookies and a private tv...heck the seat turned into a BED! All for a 3 hour flight to Boston. Didnt so much need it on the way up but after a week with my family I so needed it on the way home

The pic of Mark with the phone had me peeing my pants because I know the phone drama he went through and all I can think of is that poor fool at ATT on Marco Island LOL!

Your face says it all...DONT MESS WITH ME! Now that face may work in many many places but honey it doesnt belong in WDW

54 days sister, just 54 more days and we are in the Happiest Place On Earth -TOGETHER! Lets hope the time flies!

Hi! Subbing in! Enjoyed the first two updates! Your face in the after check in one shows excactly how you felt!

So sorry to hear about your mom. I know exactly what you are going through. My grandma was diagnosed with Alzheimer's at 62 and has been in a nursing home since 2002 or 2003. It has been so long I can no longer remember. Every time she got an infection of sorts she would get violent or wander, or both. Broke my grandfathers heart to put her in the home, but it was for the best for him. He was deaf and could not hear her leaving the house when she would wander, so he would have no idea how long she was gone for either! Such a scary experience. She is now 83, and is at the waiting game point. My heart breaks more every day. BUT I now work with the Alzheimer's Association and have made it my life goal to find a cure for this disease. I am training to run the Disneyland Marathon next September to raise money for our local AA branch here. Makes me feel good knowing I am finally doing something I can control for her. If you need anything don't hesitate to ask. **hugs**

Hang in there with everything you are going through with your Mom. I can sympathize, my Mom is going through a lot right now with my Grandma and it's been extremely difficult with deciding the care that's best for her. Keep reliving the trip, if not to tell us, but to have the good memories to help you keep your sanity during this difficult time.

You are correct, OKW is very home like. I love the fact that it's so quiet, I think it's one of it's greatest selling points.

I'm glad I happened upon your facebook comment or I'd have missed your TR. This is my first time following yours, but I've seen you following others, that I was following.

I got her on page 9! I'm always late to the party!

First I want to add how sorry I am about your mother. It truly is a horrid disease, and especially right after losing Mark's mom. You have to keep remembering that the actions you see of her now, aren't the mom you know and try your best to remember the good times.

My husband, 10 year old daughter and I stayed at Old Key West twice this past summer. In June, we stayed there for out 26th anniversary and had a studio villa in building 55. It was such a nice quiet location on a cul-de-sac. In August we stayed there again, but upgraded to a 1 bedroom because my 20 year old son Max and his girlfriend Casey joined us. If I had realized that 2 studios were less points than a single 1 bedroom, I would have gotten them a separate villa. It ended up being tricky with them coming back to nap, sleeping in the pull-out couch and we had come back to the room to rest and they were sleeping. We really do love Old Key West. Its our 2nd home... our first home is Saratoga Springs. We actually don't have points at OKW, we have an add-on at BLT, but we've never stayed there.

On our last day, I went to the front desk and told a manager person (she was wearing a navy blazer) that our internet kept dropping out every few minutes and was essentially useless. She asked us if we'd tried in the lobby. So we went and got one of our laptops and tried in the living room off the lobby. When I went back to the front desk to find her, she wasn't there..so I had to try to explain to the lady at the desk (who was probably 95 if she was a day) that I wanted to speak to the woman in the navy blazer again. I mentioned the internet, as I was telling her that the woman and I were having a conversation about the internet...so this CM says "oh I'm sorry, we don't have internet here...we have wifi"!!! So I said knew it was pointless... so I said... ok and walked away til the blazers came back out.

I can't wait to read more!
