What's the better deal...
Booking a cruise on opening day OR booking with the on board discount?
Thanks! |

We have had our reservation transferred over with discounted price before. No reason not to give it a shot. Someone will jump in and say it can't be done. Maybe not now, but I have had DCL transfer ours over before using our same deposit and same reservation number. |

Sometimes you can get the lowest price AND the onboard booking discount - depending on how much the cruise has increased in price before you book it onboard. My two upcoming Disney cruises were first booked as dummy cruises onboard, and later moved when the new cruises were available to book.

You can estimate by looking at the date for 2013 and if it is a low priced cruise, just wait. If it is a high priced cruise, book on opening day.

Combine both. I alwalys have a few dummy dates booked that I change on opening day to get the best price AND the discount.

Is there any benefit to book on board if you would like to book concierge? It was my understanding that the onboard discount was not available for that catergory...

If you book concierge onboard you will get the OBC associated with your Castaway club level. But no 10% discount.

Onboard credit is no longer related to Castaway Club level. Everyone gets the same amount of OBC (for onboard bookings) based on the length of the cruise.

Thanks for the info. The OBC seems to be the same that is offered through our TA so the only benefit I could find would have maybe been a smaller deposit? We didn't bother booking one on board since we didn't see the benefit and have no idea which cruise we want to take next or when.
