And it's not for Halloween!
Let me explain: This December, I'm planning on going to my local Comic-Con where I'll get to meet one of my favorite actors ever, Dean Cain. (Remember Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman? ) Not to mention, Stan Lee, Patrick Stewart, and several of the 'Star Trek: Next Generation' cast! It's going to be awesome!! I'm so showing my inner nerd...There's just one little problem. Half the fun of going to Comic Con is dressing up as your favorite characters and I have no clue of who to go as... Plus there are other issues like the fact that I can't sew and don't have alot of money to spend on a costume, so it would have to be something that I can hopefully put together with clothes I find at thrift stores, plus while I do have a long brown wig, I'd like to not have to wear it if at all possible. I've done 'Amy Pond' from 'Doctor Who' before and it would be pretty easy to get an outfit for her (even though my wig's not quite right): ![]() ![]() ![]() and a current close up pic (since I've lost 40 lbs since the last ones were taken): I was thinking about going as Lois Lane (since I get to meet Superman and my current haircut's fairly similar to hers in season 3 & 4) but I'm not sure if anybody would be able to tell who I was since she mainly wear dress-suits. I was also thinking of Elisa from 'Gargoyles' since several of the 'Next Generation' cast were also in it, but I don't have the right color wig... I also have a Cinderella dress that I can finally fit back into, but there's still the wig problem, not to mention that a gown is not the most comfortable thing to spend the day in. I like just about any Disney movie character, Doctor Who, Sherlock and I have a 'Spock shirt' so if all else fails, I can go as a Trekkie. But I'd love to hear if anyone has any other ideas that I may not have thought of yet. Thanks in advance! Last edited by belledreamer; 09-30-2012 at 11:16 PM. |

How about Black Widow (movie version) - you could really rock that character if you tinted your hair red, and your local second hand store might have black clothing you could modify into her outfit pretty inexpensively. I bet you could find toy "bullets" for the bracelets at a dollar store and paint them black, buy inexpensive gloves and cut off the fingers, etc. I'd love to see a pic if you do dress up as her! Good luck!

What other shows/movies do you like? I love your Amy Pond cosplay, what about doing River Song? She's fairly easy to do, but still recognizable, and most of all, comfy!

I will try to help think of some suggestions, since I work at a local costume shop (theater/historical) but I just HAD to tell you how much I LOVE your Tardis earrings!!! AND I was completely FREAKED OUT by that Weeping Angel picture!!!!!
What about Cullen (Twilight) Vampire? Alice, Bella, etc? You can usually find some inexpensive "Cullen contacts" online http://www.visiondirect.com/la/help/default.asp?catid=179143&aid=337072&aparam=13wk05v dHALLWN&om_u=NsksZU&om_i=_BQaehFB8uUmwEb ![]()

My husband was the red-shirt guy from Star Trek. It was the easiest costume. Black slacks and a red long sleeve shirt with a sew on patch.

How about Kim Possible? That's a pretty easy costume to put together. Or Carmen San Diego? Merida from "Brave." Esmerelda from "Hunchback of Notre Dame." Lucy from "Peanuts."
That's all I've got. Please post photos when you decide. Queen Colleen

I did Amy Pond last year. Lots of fun. Ones that I'm braining on right now for next Halloween, Cons, etc:
-Female Loki -Zombie (have the dress destroyed enough but I need to work on the make-up) -Girly Steampunk Airship Pirate One my daughter keeps wanting to do is Ramona Flowers from 'Scott Pilgrim vs the World'. Its a pretty easy cosplay & you can probably get most of it at a thrift store or Wal-Mart. The main thing is that you would have to do a temp dye on your hair. |

Regina or Snow White from Storybrooke from ONCE UPON A TIME.
It would be easy since they both have short dark hair and wear normal clothes. You can even easily make the Magic book for Regina to carry around.
