May swap WCC ressie for Plaza Restaurant...advice?
Thinking about swapping my ADR for WCC to one at the Plaza restaurant. I have eaten at WCC in years past, but understand that some of the food quality and menu has changed recently. Never eaten at the Plaza Restaurant on Main Street...any advice on swapping this out? TIA.

Not a bad swap. WCC isnt what it once was. Plaza is good, nothing outstanding, but good food all the same.

The Plaza is good, we go there every trip. The sandwiches are good, fries are very good (the best I have had on property) and of course there is the ice cream. It is a quaint little place with a nice atmosphere. Not a great deal if you are on the DP since it is a TS, it is a good choice to pay OOP. I would make the switch.

Are you swapping lunch or dinner? The lunch at WCC hasn't changed all that much, other than dropping the all you care to eat platter off the menu. It's dinner that has changed. I love the Plaza, but the food there is mostly sandwiches, which is more of a lunch or light dinner type of meal. You really can't compare it to the dinner menu that WCC used to have, or the all you care to eat menu they have now.
I'm not a big fan of all you care to eat meals because the food tends to suffer quality wise, so I would probably do the swap if it was dinner. I kind of like a lighter dinner anyway. But if it's lunch, you may want to reconsider - or at least do a side by side comparison of the menus before making the switch. |

We absolutely love The Plaza. They offer sandwiches and salads plus milkshakes, floats and ice cream sundaes. It isn't haute cuisine, but what they do they do very well. The fries are the best on WDW property.
That said, it is very different from WCC. If you are going for dinner and the new menu appeals to you I don't see any reason to switch. If you don't like the new menu then switch. It is really up to what your tastes are. |

Thanks for all the input. My plans are for dinner and I just don't really like the changes they have made at WCC. I already have several big meals planned for the week so a lighter meal at the Plaza actually sounds like it would be good.
Having said that, what would you all recommend? The cheese steak and the reuben both sound good to me. A couple of you mentioned the fries...how are the homemade chips?

I think that the Plaza is great, overlooked restaurant (which is ironic, since it's on Main Street!). We try to go there every trip and I always get the club sandwich. It is a great break from the heavier, richer food that we get at the signatures, etc. They also have great milkshakes.

If I remember right, I think the fries are like a steak fry, right?? I think I remember someone says that..
We're trying The Plaza on Halloween, before the party starts. Looking forward to it.

Both the fries and the chips are delishhhhh. I usually order whatever DH doesn't and that way I get both!
The Plaza is a great place for sandwiches and burgers. I get the turkey sandwich and can barely finish 1/2 if I want dessert and I usually want dessert. They have some yummy ice cream. I wouldn't spend a TS credit on it tho.
