If you were staying for two weeks...

If you were staying at Disney World for nearly two weeks would you stay in a regular room (probably moderate but maybe deluxe) and have a dining plan or would you stay in a Villa and sometimes eat in and sometimes go out?

I'm about to run numbers and I don't know which would be more cost effective but also considering things like space, getting tired of eating out, etc. Would probably try and rent points if I stayed in a Villa (I have never done this) and most likely stay in a studio or if a good deal then a 1-bedroom. However, there is some appeal to staying more inexpensively in a moderate or a discounted deluxe if I could get one...decisions, decisions...

Opinions? There will be 2 of us for part of the trip and 3 for part of the trip.

I would try to rent points and stay in a villa. My choice would also be a 1 BR. Of course, I may be biased, we just bought into DVC this summer.

The advantages to the 1 BR besides more space are a fully equipped kitchen and a washer and dryer right in the unit. So both cooking and laundry are much much easier In a 1 BR. Cooking would be very difficult with only the studio kitchenette (microwave, toaster, fridge &sink.). Both studio & 1BR would both have a single bed (king in 1 BR, queen in studio) and a pullout sleeper sofa. The one exception would be at OKW where the studios have 2qu beds. GL deciding.

We always stay at least two weeks in the summer. We stay at a deluxe resort and either get the ddp or use the TIW card (annual passes). Have fun deciding!

For me - I don't want to cook ANYTHING on vacation!

Two weeks! Good for you!
If it were us I would consider another option ... a regular room with AP and TIW card. Seems like that may pay off, and more flexible, too. As they say, 'you'd have to run the numbers'.... I always love that!...As if you didn't know....hah!

I know it's complicated, but I sure hope you have a great stay!

I guess we wouldn't necessarily need the meal plan but a TIW card would work too since we would be eating out ALOT (we do have an AP). I guess I prefer the 1 bedroom villa but don't like the price. We are also vegetarians and I get tired of searching out food sometimes although I don't really enjoy cooking. Ack! How will I decide?!

With special dietary needs, definitely do the 1 BR. Also get a grocery delivery so you have things to cook. Since you know you will be eating out quite a bit, also get an AP & TIW card. Oh, and don't forget to eat at Jiko, I hear they have a good vegetarian menu.

We don't do a full 2 weeks, but do stay 10 days. By then I'm thoroughly thired of eating out. And thoroughly tired of the same room at the same resort.

Since you are staying 2 weeks and having a 3rd person for only part of the trip, have you considered a split stay? Doing a room (or studio) for the portion when there is just the 2 of you, and then moving to a 1 bedroom villa when your 3rd party arrives? It would be less expensive than a larger villa for the whole fortnight, you wouldn't have the same 4 walls staring at you, and you'd have the cooking facilities for part of the trip.

This.

We stayed for 11 days and I could not WAIT for a plate of something home cooked. Eating out for 11 days, 3 meals a day.
I would split it up into two stays/2 different vacations. I would enjoy the eating out and sharing a room for the 2 of you for 1/2 the stay - then enjoy the extra space and cooking a few meals for the second.

I wouldnt want to prepare any meals while on vacation. I would pick a mod or a deluxe with a nice food court so I could grab something light or a good snack. The BWI,YC,BC have the worst choices for a CS place

We own DVC. If you aren't going to spring for a 1 bedroom, I think I would lean toward a resort room with AP/TIW.

NO daily mousekeeping in a DVC studio.
May be complicated to do the dining plan with 2 and then 3 people. May have to split your ressie to do that.

it would really depend on how much money i had to spend - if i'm on a budget - i would get a mod - if i had a decent amount of money - i would stay in a villa or the cabins - so i would have the choice of eating in or out - of course - tiw - no dining plan - it's too much food

I would do the villa and eat breakfast in the villa most mornings. I would do as many lunches and dinners out as I could afford, though.

Do a week of a mod on DP and a week in a villa.

Hmm, a split stay does sound interesting and I don't know why I didn't think about that. A week in a regular room and then a week in a DVC might be nice. Actually, the second week we might be 4 so 2 of us the first week in a regular room and 4 the second in the DVC. Both the extra room if we go with a 1-BR villa the second week and the option of eating in when we are getting tired of eating out might be ideal. Of course it is the cost that might be the show stopper.

Has anyone slept on the pull out bed in a 1-BR villa? Is it comfortable for adults? I think my child could sleep on anything but me not so much.
