Counter Service at MK
My husband and I have been to WDW many times, but are taking a family friend this trip who has never been. We are planning to start our vacation out at MK first thing Monday morning. We then thought it would be good to take the monorail that afternoon over to Epcot and finish out the day there during the F&WF. Right now the only reservation we have is at the Garden Grill at 4:00. We are on the Dining plan, so we need a counter service at the MK. What would you all recommend? Or would you recommend a TS at MK instead and skip Garden Grill?

For counter service in MK, I like Columbia Harbour House or Pecos Bill.
Never had table service in MK so I can't say if that would be better. If you are going to Epcot for F&W later in the day, you might want to eat light at lunch so if you see something tempting to try at one of the food booths you will have room in your tummy!

Cosmic Ray's in Tomorrowland is pretty good. They have a chicken and rib combo that is a ton of food for a reasonable price. It is easily shareable between two people.

If you're going over to Epcot for F&W I'm not really sure why you're doing Garden Grill? With starting at MK early I would go to Main Street Bakery for Breakfast or if you really want to eat a real meal do an early lunch at Liberty Tree Tavern. When we know we're doing F&W we just graze our way all the way through the day and don't eat any other meals! lol

I would keep the quick service for lunch at MK. We like Columbia harbour house, or cosmic rays is a fave of my moms.
CHH has a good shrimp basket and DS8 likes the clam chowder. A little variety compared to the usual. Cosmic rays has burgers with a topping bar as well as half chicken dinners so again options if you don't want a burger. |

Cosmic rays has more options then everywhere else but it's always so crazy. We like Columbia Harbor House for a less crazy experience.

Columbia Harbor House here too. The atmos is much better and themed well. Even though a counter service we always feel relaxed. Eat upstairs by a window if possible and watch all the passer by entertainment....especially if it rains

I agree either Cosmic Rays (which is usually crazy busy) or Columbia Harbour House.

OK, I would not do a TS for lunch or dinner if you are planning to take advantage of F&W. I would do a TS breakfast, either at your resort or an early one in the park. You don't want to be full of food or you won't be able to do the festival justice.
As far as using the CS credit, you can use it another day if you want to. You may use up your snack credits at the F&W booths, so you may need that extra CS credit to cover a breakfast or light lunch you would have used a snack credit for on another day. Or if you don't eat as much as you thought you might at the festival, you might want a light meal before leaving the park. To answer the question at hand, when I dine CS at MK, I usually go to Pecos Bill or Cosmic Ray's because they have good selections and they are busy enough that the food is fresh. |

We have never enjoyed the food at Cosmic Ray's we found the chicken to be dry and lacking in taste. We would not recommend this location. We have found Pecos Bills to be much better
