The battle of the chicken nugget!

Well it's one small victory to mumy and daddy V Sam the fussy eater! My DS does love and eat pasta and a fairly good range of food but can really dig his heals in about some foods (mainly without even trying them!). His latest thing has been to reject all types of chicken nuggets except McDonald's. Now don't get me wrong we do not feed him much of this kind of food group but on occasion we do come across chicken nuggets and he will flatly refuse. In Disney there is plenty of food choice but there are also a lot of chicken nuggets so I made it my mission to crack this problem tonight. Well whoo hoo after one massive screaming hissy fit (and a glass of wine for mummy) he has eaten birds eye chicken nuggets tonight and enjoyed them
You may well think I'm mad but it's all part of the Disney build up and makes me feel a little bit nearer to our happy place

I won't give our DD the Disney kids chicken nuggets - they are so processed so we buy her the adult nuggets which are breast meat! However I fully understand the wont try anything they don't like the sound of!

Her Disney staple is mac'n'cheese - widely available and one of her favourites!

Thanks for the tips; we're upgrading my will be 9 year old DD to the adult menu anyway as think she might get a bit bored (and has a healthy appetite!)so we can mix and match and try the adult nuggets if necessary. I just need to practise my mac n cheese at home using the slightly strange colour cheese that they use so there will be no suprises for DS!

I highly recommend making your own. They're so easy (as long as you don't have a fear of deep fat frying!). My grandson loves them. I buy the mini chicken fillets, then it's just a case of dipping them in flour, then beaten egg, then panko breadcrumbs. Once the oil's hot, they cook in a matter of minutes and the chicken is moist, juicy and tender.

I have a similar recipe to Deb but use crushed cornflakes instead of breadcrumbs. Drizzle melted butter over the nuggets and then oven bake them. It's an Annabel Carmel recipe and they go down very well.

The recipes sound yummy and I do vaguely remember the annabel Carmel recipe from a few years ago so will give them a go- thank you.
I figure the more variety of nugget I give him in advance the easier it will be.
I know it must sound awful but he also recently ate a burger which is a first for him. I promise he does eat healthily and can probably manage to eat fairly healthily in Disney but I need to be prepared just in case!!
This is the kind of mad planning you end up doing when you have booked up 1 1/2 years in advance and have too much time to think/obsess about it
Thanks again form the mad women with the fussy child!

My 2 year old is a mare he would live on jam sarnies if he had his way.

I know exactly what you mean by trying to crack food before holiday. I've even considered going to American food store and buying mac n cheese packet but deep down I know the little monkey still won't touch the stuff. Not that I blame him

I used to cook the things (Mcdonalds Chicken nuggets) and they now disgust me!

He will soon learn!

I remember those times... when DS was little he nearly had a bowl of Coco Pops poured over his head after asking for them then deciding he didn't like them
DD came home from school with a little tub of cress she had grown.
"Do you like my cress Daddy?"
"Yes that looks lovely - did you grow it?"
"Yes I did - will you have some in your sandwich?"
"I will - do you want some?"
"No, I don't like cress"
