I have never seen that video.

"I Will Always Love You" was commonly dedicated by SOs on the radio when it was popular after the Bodyguard, and I don't think they meant to be breaking up with their SOs.
"Saving All My Love for You" was a common wedding song in the 80s, it's about an affair.
Or "Wake Me Up When September Ends", which people think is a 9/11 song, but Billie Joe Armstrong actually wrote it about the death of his father, who died in September 1982.

I remember the one "Someday", the song is great but the video just freaks me out!

I can't believe no one has mentioned this one. It's pretty old, and soooo depressing...

In a little while from now
If Iím not feeling any less sour
I promise myself to treat myself
And visit a nearby tower
And climbing to the top will throw myself off
In an effort to make it clear to who
Ever what itís like when youíre shattered
Left standing in the lurch at a church
Where people saying: "My God, thatís tough
She's stood him up"
No point in us remaining
We may as well go home
As I did on my own
Alone again, naturally

To think that only yesterday
I was cheerful, bright and gay
Looking forward to well wouldnít do
The role I was about to play
But as if to knock me down
Reality came around
And without so much, as a mere touch
Cut me into little pieces
Leaving me to doubt
Talk about God and His mercy
Or if He really does exist
Why did He desert me in my hour of need
I truly am indeed Alone again, naturally

It seems to me that there are more hearts
broken in the world that canít be mended
Left unattended
What do we do? What do we do?

Alone again, naturally
Now looking back over the years
And whatever else that appears
I remember I cried when my father died
Never wishing to hide the tears
And at sixty-five years old
My mother, God rest her soul,
Couldnít understand why the only man
She had ever loved had been taken
Leaving her to start with a heart so badly broken
Despite encouragement from me
No words were ever spoken
And when she passed away
I cried and cried all day
Alone again, naturally
Alone again, naturally

listening to it is even sadder....

IIRC the "Far Away" video is about a firefighter and his wife/girlfriend. He goes off to fight a forest fire but it has a happy ending and he comes home.

I will agree "Someday" is a depressing song and so is the video.

Haven't read any of the replies but the first that come to mind are: DOA (song from the 60s or early 70s), Tears in Heaven, Hell is for Children, Alone Again, Naturally.

Not depressing, but if you enjoy that song for the narrative, you would really like "Song For Crazy Horse" by J.D. Blackfoot. It's something like 18 minutes long, but the lyrics are great

A Lifetime by Better Than Ezra

"Allie woke up 8 AM
Graduation day.
Got into a car,
Crashed along the way.

When we arrived late to the wake,
Stole the urn while they
Looked away,
And drove to the beach
'Cause I knew you'd want it
That way."

It came up on my iTunes this morning and I thought of this thread. I tear up every time.

This song makes me cry because about 75% of deployment video montages use this song. When I hear it I think of being apart.
