I read all your posts but I am using my Nook and it is slow going. No quoting and memory of what y'all covered in the past 8 pages is sparse!

As Laura told you,we have a wonderful corner room with a private balcony. For those of you who know the Dolphin, it is in one of those round, turret-y areas. Eighth floor with a view of the Swan, the Studios and the BoardWalk. Since we have the Friendships right below us we get to hear their horns. I caught Bob out on the balcony waving at them like a little kid!

I seem to have done something to my left ankle in the past 24 hours... it hurts like the devil. So we walked over to Epcot and went in as far as Canada and left. It is HOT here (30 degrees hotter than at home) and the crowds were substantial. We did manage to get the following: Cheese Soup & the Mushroom Filet (Canada), Griddled Cheese (Greece), Fisherman's Pie & Lava Cake (Ireland).

We had a bite to eat at the Cabana Bar last night and watched a little football. Asleep before 11:00 and up at my normal 5:15. Life is good!

Only plans for today are Epcot.

Hope to post more tonight or tomorrow. Laura gets here in a few hours!!!
Elin, hope your ankle feels better soon. Take it easy and save some food and wine for us.

I have to admit that 70 minutes from our front door to the entrance of Jambo House is really nice.

I agree, I think I could get used to that. I mean I am 105 minutes from work everyday. I wished I was going to WDW everyday.

All this talk of cold weather is rather frightening! It doesn't get that cold here in winter, and it's only October! Although I was thinking the other day I might be able to start wearing T-shirts again soon.

Good morning y'all! Congratulations Spunky on your booking! Is this your first visit or are you an AKV lover?

It's our first visit at the hotel. Our kids really wanted to stay there. We have stayed offsite our last two visits. I'm so excited.

Thanks, everyone. It has been two good days. Saw Laura briefly yesterday for a drink at Martha's Vineyard. We are planning more shenanigans today, though.

We generally stay away from Epcot on the weekends unless we can get in at 11:00 and back out by 1:00-1:30... which is exactly what we did yesterday (treating Columbus Day like a weekend day). But Sunday we were too excited NOT to go in and paid the price. Since everything (including the Fisherman's Pie) was delicious, we were both happy with outcome.

I'm sure you'll love it as much as we do! There's nothing like waking up in the morning and seeing the animals. This group has a lot of knowledge about the resort. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2961001

We planned our trip for the week after Columbus Day so we didn't have to worry about the crowds from the long weekend. I'm glad you're having a great time! Let me know what fun things you discover at Food and Wine so I can try them when I get there in less than 2 weeks.

You gave me the perfect lead-in for yesterday's Snacking Around the World report, Kathy.

Coq au vin (France), Sam Adams Oktoberfest (they were out of the Festival Beer... a chocolate bock... so we "settled" at Hops and Barley), Ravioli and Canolli (Italy). We also had a glass of wine (Sauvignon Bosco del Merlo) at Tutto Gusto in Italy.

Everything was delicious again. Headed back this morning for another segment of the circle.

The ankle is still twinge-y. I cheated on my quick trip to BC yesterday and took Bob's scooter. One walk through Epcot daily seems to be the limit right now. Ibuprofen and rest and maybe some medicinal alcoholic beverages seems to be my best course of action right now.
