I skipped dinner completely before the party last year and just had a light savoury snack afterwards since I really craved that after all the wonderful sugary stuff.

We don't pig out so to speak, but you do get full if you try even a few of the different dessert items.
We had a 4:30 dinner @ BOG and our Dessert Party was at 8pm, between two of us we each had a coffee, a soda and 4 chocolate strawberries since we were still full from dinner

Depends on your 6 & 12 year old. Do they like sweets and fruits? Do they eat like birds? If your 6 year old eats a brownie and a strawberry and then finished...well maybe it's not worth it. You have to decide on your kids if it'll be worth it. We skipped dinner, then went to the party.

In fact my DD10 holds the medal, if there was one, for most ice cream bowls in one night. She ate like 8-10 bowls of ice cream - I'm not sure that is something to be proud of.... but we allowed it for the evening.. That is the only dessert she ate the whole time, but she loved it. My DD7 tried a better variety than just ice cream, and she loved it too.

I think your daughter beat my daughter on the bowls of ice cream If you go to the dessert party you have to expect the kids to eat more than usual! For our family there are no limits in Disney. We eat pretty healthy on a regular basis but in Disney there are no limits!

I keep seeing people ask if the cost of the Dessert Party is worth it? IMO Young or Old the answer is Yes, Yes, Yes!!!

The fact of not having to wait 1-2. Hours down on the street for a spot either infront of the masses or to be able to sit on the curb, not being crushed and pushed when Wishes is over is worth the price even if you do not eat or drink a thing.

I totally agree & am VERY frugal.

We did this last May only b/c it was DS's b-day & we would do it again in a heart beat. Not being crushed, pushed, shoved, & having to get a good spot hours early only have have a 7 foot person stand in front of you makes it SO worth it. And it is very yummy too!

I'm sure my DS5 can eat her weight in brownies and cupcakes.

So, I haven't thought much about the dessert party. We've done it at least twice in the past, and love it.

We are going to be there in July. When will the reservations for July open? What is the pattern now -- is it 90 days ahead, or just the month prior? Is the new website working for scheduling this event?
