Do you drink coffee? How much is too much?

Just curious as I'm fixing myself my 4th cup today how much is too much? I always have one first thing in the morning and then I bring one up to the bus stop with me. Depending on whether or not I finish the 2nd one I may make another while I am getting ready for work. Then I usually have one mid afternoon. I'm off today and it's a cold damp day so I'm about to have a cup of pumpkin spice for a treat. Is this too much coffee for one day?

NOt by my standards, but then again I drink about 4 every morning. I usually have a cup at night too, it doesn't keep me up at all.

Some can drink coffee all day and not have a problem. However I'm good to go with 2 mugs in morn ....any more than that I'll suffer stomach issues . Love the pumpkin spice coffee too, but right now enjoying the season speciality creamers.

I drink between 2-4 cups per day starting at about 8:00 and I'm done by about 10:30. I have a Bunn coffee maker with a carafe and I end up using about 1 liter of water in my "half pot" carafe but sometimes I don't finish it all.

When I drink I find its easier to watch my children because I see all 3 of them double, so all 6 of them of them take all my attention

I think it's too much if it makes you shaky/jittery or impacts your sleep. What that amount is can vary from person to person. For me one large cup each morning is enough. Much more than that and I get shaky or have sleep issues. I also can't drink it past 1pm or so if I have any hope of getting decent sleep.

My Mom drinks 2-3 cups a day..no jitters and no sleep impacts.

I agree that "too much coffee" is different for each person. For me, 4 cups a day on a regular basis would probably be too much.

I usually make a cup of coffee each morning (Keurig), and most days that is all that I'll have. But sometimes after dinner DH and I will have a cup of flavored coffee, in place of dessert.

I have high blood pressure so I try to not consume much caffeine. Other than the usual cup of coffee each morning, I drink decaf iced tea during the day.

I do 2 large mugs in the morning, sometimes maybe 1/2 cup more. I love a cup of coffee in the afternoon about 2 pm, but don't have it every day.

When I was young, I used to drink up to 8 cups of coffee a day. Then I started having regular stomach pains and went to the doctor who told me to stop drinking so much coffee.

Once I reduced the amount of coffee the pains went away. Now I can't have any at all. (I'm nearly 50 by the way).

So beware of how much you drink in a day. You may never have any problems but as I tell my kids - everything in moderation.

I drink maximum of two cups. I read recently that up to 2 cups is normal, 3-4 is considered moderate and more than 4 is on high side. But it also stated that since coffee is such a huge economic resource that many studies are skewed.

1 cup when I get up. In the winter I may have a second cup at work.

No such thing as too much coffee! I drink a lot of coffee, it has no affect on me, I can drink it at night and doesn't make me stay awake all night.

My DH says if he drank as much coffee as me he would end up in the hospital, he can only handle 1 cup and none at night.

Dunkin is my favorite!

I drink 1 cup every morning. Occasionally I'll have a second. If we eat out I'll have espresso after dinner.

I saw this on the news yesterday - thought I would share.
