College Fashion

What name brands and fashion trends are popular among the college set for girls this fall? I have a daughter and a niece in college who both need winter clothes and I am thinking about Christmas gifts.

College girls love J Crew, Target, Forever 21. Depends on where they go to school but Patagonia is a safe bet also. Of those, my D loves J Crew the most but they are pricey.

Fashion trends, like I said it depends on the school but riding boots are very popular. Colored cords, cardigans, bubble necklaces, denim shirts, are all very popular.

I use a lot of college students as babysitters. Lots of J.Crew, J.Brand jeans, etc. Expensive handbags (Gucci, leather nonlogo Coach, Prada, Marc Jacobs) even if they are in yoga pants & sneakers. $15 an hour for babysitting adds up, I guess.

DD18 is in the midwest and has asked for Sperry Top Siders shoes for Christmas. I had not heard that name in YEARS and didn't know they still made them. Northface & Columbia, uggs, and colored jeans are all popular where she is.

My dd's shop at "Platos Closet" since they can't afford all of those brand names new.

If my dd's could pick a store it would be "Buckle" and they love those Miss Me jeans as their top pick. There are other brands there as well that they wear. However they only buy them used at Platos Closet because the prices of those clothes NEW are pretty expensive.

I need to start looking for sales myself for Christmas gifts.

Hunter rain boots are a must-have. Sperry's, Northface, PINK by Victorias Secret, J. Crew, etc. I am in college and it is definitely that the "preppy" style is back in fashion! Most of the kids at my college look like they have stepped right out of a sailing magazine ad.

I see a lot of girls wearing hoodies and yoga pants or track pants. Aeropostale is really popular around here.

At my school, it seems to be Pink, Northface, Forever21, and Uggs are the most popular brands, from what I see in class. Vera Bradley is also really popular- almost all of the girls use their wristlets as ID holders.
