Getting "to go" items at a table restaurant

Last time we were at Disney world we really wanted to try to get a piece of maple crime brle from Canada, but really didn't want to sit down there just for that. We go to Disney a lot, but definitely do it budget friendly so as we can go more often. Does anyone know what the policy is for just getting dessert at a table service restaurant?
Considering the grapefruit cake at Brown Derby also. Is it best to make a reservation and just go in and order the dessert?

To get dessert only at a TS restaurant all you need to do is make a reservation, be seated, and order dessert only. They are not set up for carry-out.

However, you can usually get Grapefruit Cake at Starring Rolls.

Some desserts, such as creme brle would not be available "to go" as they are served in a bowl/ramekin. Cakes would be easier.

You won't be able to place a "to go" order at any WDW table service restaurant but many will pack up a dessert after your meal. If you only want dessert you certainly may make a reservation and just order that. We often get appetizers and dessert I stead of an entree.

TAKE-OUT from TS-EATERIES:

1) OK, this is a frequently asked question.
2) OFFICIALLY, the sit-down eateries don't do carry-out.
. . . kitchens are staffed to serve a certain amount of patrons
. . . adding carry-outs add extra orders
. . . the kitchen could easily become overloaded
. . . it would require additional people
. . . it would require additional kitchen "lines"
. . . in such a case, the table guests would have to wait too long
. . . also, podium people are not equipped to take payment and need a waiter/waitress
3) However, once in a while the CM will allow it if the day is REALLY slow.
4) It does not happen often, so, do not count upon it.
5) But, sometimes you get lucky for a side-dish or small dessert
6) The reason is that these take little kitchen time to prepare.
7) Thus, the item might not overload the kitchen staff

NOTE: If you want an item (eg, cheese soup at Le Cellier), make an ADR
reservation, then order just the soup. In many cases, you can then ask
for a doggie bag.
