Ohana

I was able to get a 5:20 ADR for ohana! Woot! However, it is the day before our free dining starts. Should I keep it and pay OOP? It's a Sunday so will be more expensive...? I'm checking to change it to a free dining day, but if I can't, would you still go?

We were there a couple weeks ago after hearing so many good things, it had been MANY years, and we were very disappointed. The bread putting was excellent and the Pot Stickers were very good, wings pretty good too, but that was about it. Pretty much everything, including the salad tastes exactly the same. No variance in flavors. And everything was served cold or room temp.

Do not see us returning in the future. Worth it to try at least once for sure though.

Is it possible to buy just the bread putting for take-out? I wonder if you asked, if they would?

If we had it to do over I again & were OOP, I would suggest SKIP IT! I realize I'm in the minority here, even within my own family We (family of 4) went in June, OOP. It was our big splurge for the week. Having been on the DDP on previous trips we decided to try OOP this time, with the agreement we would have one BIG TS meal. I suppose everything was nice about the meal & service but to me it was not worth the $$$. DH & DS LOVED it, but DD & myself were less than thrilled. Can't really put my finger on it so not sure I'm much help. DH agreed though, we would only go back if on a DP. OOP it was just too much $. Glad we tried it after all these trips & reading so much about it so now we can say we've been there.

We actually just canceled our 'Ohana ADR. With all 3 kids being Disney adults, it's certainly not worth it.

As much as I love 'Ohana I just did the same thing. For me and my boys to eat there it would have been $150+. IMHO that's outrageous for me and 2 kids who would likely not even touch a majority of the food. It's good but it's not that good!

I totally agree with the below. I would NOT pay OOP for it. I didnt care for the food to be honest. The wings were slimy. The noodles were a bit dry, ditto for the potstickers. The beef was a lously cut of meat. Chicken was decent. Pork was gross. The only good things were the salad, bread, & dessert. Pretty disappointing considering how much hype this place gets. Even with the DP, i wouldnt go back.

I dunno, I'd do it.

If the meat comes around and it's not to your liking, just let them know and they'll take care of you. I got a good plate of wings and pot stickers, and I liked the dressing on the salad.

However, since the main question the OP has relates to value, I guess that's up to the OP. If you have the means, and you don't have anything like it where you live, I think it's worth a go.

Ate there last Wednesday and the food was delicious. We were a party of 16 and everyone loved their meals. We had a really bad experience there about 5 years ago but loved our meal last week. One of the best of the trip.

I first dined at 'Ohana in 2002 and 2003 and loved it. This was before it had become the super-popular place it is now. Back then, dinner was $21.99, with dessert extra. (Or maybe it was drinks extra - one of the two.)

Dined again every couple of years, but didn't seem as fabulous as it had been. This past February, it was just overall disappointing - and I can't really say why. (As I get older, I eat less - maybe that's part of it for an all-you-can-eat meal.)

I'll go back, but it will be a while.

But what I'm really interested in:

Quote:
It's a Sunday so will be more expensive...?
Are weekends now more expensive for restaurants as well as resorts? Or is this just a rumor/urban legend? I've never actually encountered this myself.
