Increased crowds this October?

We are leaving in 9 days and I am seeing so many posts about the parks being busier this fall than in previous years... We generally go the second week in November, but switched it to go earlier this year. Any idea what to expect? Thanks!

I'm sure it's going to be more crowded, but I think still very manageable. I know that weekends are always busy, and with F&W fri and sat nights I'm expecting to be horrible at epcot.. (actually many nights were busy when we were there). Still nothing like what you'd see in peak season though.

Think of crowds levels over the years like you would inflation. Everyone laments the good old days when gas prices were a buck/gallon and you could swing dead cats in the Hub without hitting anyone.

There are still ebbs and flows during the seasons, but the general trend over time is more crowds overall. Doesn't mean you can't find good times with low crowds to go still, it's just that it's not what it used to be.

Arrived this morning & went to mk. Looked like the usual oct crowds. But tonite is a party nite so crowds could come later in the day. Very humid today with lots of sun. Tonite headed to dinner at Ohana and its a bit cooler due to rain storm approaching.

We've been here since 9/29 and it definitely seems much more crowded than when we were here during the last week of October last year.

As more and more schools go to a "year round" school year, fall break will consist of 2 weeks off in October. Add free dinning into the mix and WDW will begin to get really crowded.

I'm looking at the forecast, and while just less than 2 weeks out, there's rain almost every day. At this point, I'm hoping for rain. Lots of rain (just not a cold rain). Keep people away, and meantime we'll just slosh through and play in the puddles.

Completely standard forecast this time of year. Please ignore rain forecasts more than 48 hours out, they really are worthless.

No no no - you have this wrong. People should pay VERY close attention to the forecast. It is going to be RAINING EVERY MINUTE OF THE DAY. No one is going to have any fun as everything will be soaking wet. Then you'll catch the flu that's been going around the parks. Stay home!!!

thank you so much for writing this. I have been checking the weather all week. we are due to arrive 10/14 and it says rain everyday until 10/19. Glad to know I shouldn't take it so seriously. Normally rain wouldn't bother my husband or I, we would just throw on a poncho and keep going. however, this is our first trip with our 14 month old son and my parents so we want it to me perfect!

I am hoping that the 1st 2 weeks will be busy and not the last 2 weeks
I think a lot of schools are getting time off for Columbus day which is the 8th so I would think more people will be there this week and next??

I hope you're right as we arrive during the third week in October. We specifically chose this time of year because of low crowds.

Don't stress about the crowds & the rain. You are in the happiest place on earth. We are here now & it was super crowded at Epcot last nite for F & W. At DHS this morning & there was a huge crowd at early entry & the park here is very busy. As far as the rain a bus driver told us that its been hot & humid since may & that for the past 2 weeks its rained every afternoon after 4pm. So far it's been true for the past 3 days. Rain was lighter nuisance rain last nite. But rain & humidity didn't make it any less fun to be here )

I was just looking at the 10 day forecast, no day over 30% chance.
