....again, all I ask is that you refrain from bashing a team and/or DIS member - there's enough negativity elsewhere, and it has no place here.

Where did I bash a team or a DIS member? I'm confused. I stated an opinion. If you don't share the same opinion, then you shouldn't care. I never called you gutless. I said it takes no guts to root for the Yankees. I'm not debating anymore. You stated the rules of the thread, I'm abiding by them.

and, as for calling Yankees fans 'gutless', well, then technically if a fan has 'no guts' to root for a team, go speed skating, start a water polo team, ski the Swiss Alps, or WHATEVER, that IS calling them 'gutless'.....the truth of the matter is, it DOES take guts to root for a team like the Yankees, when there are so many 'haters' there that lash out at a team and/or its fans or affiliates. So many times I've turned the other cheek, but when it goes 'overboard', welllllll.......

If money bought championships they would win every year.
Dave Winfield didn't win a WS with the Yankees, so whatever money they spent on him didn't help win a championship.. I like them because they're my hometown team, (or close enough) and because my mom brought me up watching Yankee baseball. In reality, isn't that the reason most people root for a team? Proximity and what your parents watched. Usually not much deeper than that. LOL that's why I never understand why people care about who likes what team. If I'd be born in Boston, I'm sure I'd be a Red Sox fan today. I love the Yanks these years when they've been doing well, but I was loving them back in the 80s when they weren't winning anything. Has nothing to do with rooting only for a winning team. And what do you need guts for to like any sports team?? It seems to be over complicating things to take it so seriously. |

...and what most Yankee haters don't realize is the millions of $$ they put BACK into the team, employees, etc., not to mention the COUNTLESS gifts of charity that Steinbrenner has selflessly pooh-poohed taking credit for....

..thank you....well said. I love the Yankees because my dad was a big fan - I went to my first game when I was only 4 years old, back in the early 60's.....yeah, I'm THAT old!

....okay....so explain the Philly pitching staff, who, on paper, are head-and-shoulders above the rest of MLB.....

GO YANKEES!
Mo and Grandy are my favorites! Yes, we have been to quite a few games. I married a Yankee fan so I've been a fan since 1994.
