Can kids get away with shorts in the MDR?

Practically no one is going to notice what your children are wearing.

This is a very hot topic on these boards. Just Google Disboards Disney Cruise Shorts in the Dining room and see allll the threads.

But if you go to the Disney Cruise web site and see the dress code it states no shorts in the dining rooms.

http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/fa...dining-attire/

Boys khaki pants are not that expensive you can go online and buy a pair for $14.50.

I'd stick with dress shorts, no denim or gym shorts. Little boys look handsome in dress shorts and they aren't any different from a skirt. You can find really cute suits with shorts, bow ties and vests for boys too. It wasn't too long ago when boys routinely wore "short pants" for dress up.

Disney requests that shorts are not to be worn in the MDR. We used this as an opportunity to teach our daughter how to respect the hosts wishes.

Sounds so super cute My kids always wore khaki or dress shorts with nice tops. They looked appropriate and cute! Someone on another thread suggested that the young boys dress up in character like the girls dress as princesses. That's a neat idea. I wish I would have thought about it.

As a side note.....on Pirate night---anything goes. You will see lots of t shirts, shorts and costumes.

Yes kids can get away with shorts in the MDRs. It is a hot topic on here, and Disney does request 'no shorts'. However, I'm not one to pay attention to what others wear to dining. In fact, I accidently wore shorts one night to the MDR after visiting the health center, and by the time I had realised our head server was taking us to our table, so when I stopped him to tell him I'd go back to get changed he told me to relax and that there was no need.

Yes they can, and many do. Your question is very well worded...since the dress code is crystal clear, they are in fact "getting away" with shorts.

My 3 yr old refused to go to dinner in long pants. We were late to dinner trying to convince him. Finally he won, as usual. He wore shorts to dinner. But it was either that or naked. Stubborn kid. I would have left if they asked me too. I felt embrassed but then Saw some adult men wearing shorts and t shirts to dinner. Come on that is not right. At least my 3 yr old wore a collared shirt.

No T-shirts at dinner? Is that in the dress code guidelines? Like yours refusing to wear long pants, mine hates collared shirts. It's a sensory issue. He doesn't like she feel against a his neck. He wears pants no problem though.
