AP/Room/Dining Plan ? and confusion

I am planning a trip for my two kids and I for 11/22-11/25. We have AP's and I normally book room only because we only stay a night at a time. For this trip I'd like to do a Room and Dining plan. I know I can book that through the passholder site but is it possible to book the rooms now using a discount and then call back and add the DDP?

And if I decide to wait and just book the room and DDP at once can I get a discount on the room if one is available?

When you add the DDP it becomes a package. A ticketless package, but a package all the same. Therefore, if you booked a room only reservation, they have to cancel the room only and rebook it as a package.

You can get the AP room discount on a ticketless package if it becomes available at your resort for your dates. But I don't think you can add any discount to an AP package except the AP one.

I am planning on getting an Annual Pass for the first time this year. Should I purchase the pass first then book the resort room?

Ultimately my plan is AP (Purchased through DVC) / Room Only / DDP

To add dinning you must book a package. The only ticketless package is an AP package, all other packages require that you buy @ least one days park tickets for all people in the room.
To book an AP package one person in the room must have an AP when you check in, but you don't need to have an AP when you book.
If you book a room only, when the time comes to change to a package Disney will cancel your room only and refund the money (which for me took 3 days, but can take longer) meanwhile, you'll put a deposit down on your package and get a new reservation number.
DVC members staying on points (or people renting from them) can book dinning w/out buying park tickets, I believe.

You can't add a dining plan to a room only reservation. Once you do that, it has to be a package. With an AP, it'll be a ticketless package, but a package nonetheless.

Yes, but as explained, that way requires cancelling and re-booking as AP+Dine pkg. Way easier to just wait for AP room discounts to come out and book the AP+Dine. They should be released soon. They used to be released first, these days they seem to be putting Visa first, and maybe release AP the day before or even same day as GP discount

I bumped from a search by accident looking for help with my own issue.
