Baby's and the family raft a TT and BB - The DIS Discussion Forums

Hi,

I've been on the family raft at both TT and BB. I know that TT's family raft is more mild than the BB one. This year will be the first year I have taken my 2.5 year old DD and 5 month old DS with DH. My DD is a dare devil. Lol. Will we be able to take both of them on the family raft's or would you say they are not suitable for the 5 month old? Has anyone taken kids that age on them.

We were just at BB last week with our 10month old and did not attempt it. The signs clearly state "NO INFANTS MAY RIDE" I highly doubt the lifeguards would let you.

Even if they let you, do not take the infant. It is way too rough. I had a hard enough time keeping just my 2.5 year old in place while holding on with one hand and holding him with another.

Incidentally we just did BB with a 2.5 year old and he hated it, but he's a wuss. Your daredevil may like the family ride, but if water hitting her head bothers her be careful because there is a waterfall at the end. My wuss son did really like riding the chairlift up, but your five month old will not be allowed on that i don't think.

Your little daredevil should just love tikes peak!

We were just there a little over a week ago. They said at BB the child has to be able to hold on. My daughter is 14 months old but 13lbs. We thought about it as our friends took their 17 month old on, but it is too rough for an infant and with my daughter being tiny we decided not to. At TL, we could've taken her on (we asked the lifeguard) BUT she would've gotten soaked with all the water & falls so we didn't end up taking her on it. HTH!

I'll proberly leave BB one this time, as DD doesn't always do what she's asked and I can't be sure she would hold on.

My husband said nothing was posted about an age minimum for TL family raft ride. He asked the life guard if our little one could go on and he said yes.

This is probably best...they don't give you any time to give your kid instructions before they shove you off, it felt very rushed and my boy got scared by all the commotion and was to confused and upset to hold on, made for one scared mama.

I didn't get that feeling. They held our raft back until I forced my daughter's hand around the handle. She didn't want to hold on cause she's a daredevil but they said "she has to hold on just till I send you off, then whatever she does, well, up to you."

I really wish they had done that for us. Instead they just kind of shouted, 'He has to hold on!' while shoving us down the path. After that it was going to fast for him to figure out how to hold on (he wasn't quite aligned right with the handles).

Maybe it would be better if I had given them a heads up that I would need some extra time to get my kid situated.
