We are going to Disney second week of December, DH, DS 9, DD 7, and DS 4. I'm trying to decide if I should book the CP at 5pm (with a lunch ADR) or if we should skip the CP, have a big nap this day and stay super late (for my kids anyway ) for illuminations. It's our last night at Disney so I definitely want to do something and it's also our only day at Epcot. Anyone with kids similar ages that liked either CP or illuminations? My kids don't usually stay up very late and I love christmas music so I was leaning towards CP but...don't know if illuminations is something we shouldn't miss. All advice welcome! :-) thank you

Without knowing your kids you are comparing a choir to fireworks. Again, I do not know your kids, but my thoughts are if you are chosing what your kids might like best, try Illuminations. You might like CP better though.

Is there any way you could maybe start a little later that day or take a mid day break and do both? A late lunch followed the Candlielight Processional then walking the World Showcase snacking and desserting along the way with Hot Cocoa then ending the night with Illuminations sounds like a perfect way to end my trip.

You could get the later reservations. You could do the 8:15 Show and get the VIP seating area for the Illuminations. I'm wanting to book a later time than what I have now (5pm) because of the lighting. The sun will still be up at that time and the CP have candles, so the full effect of the candlesticks won't be 100%. My kids (DS 11, DD 9 ) love the CP, I think they would be upset if we'd miss it OR Illuminations.

We did both with a 5yo a couple of years ago. She also has a regular early bedtime, which we try to stick to most nights on vacation as well. However, we do plan a night or two that will be late (depends on length of vacation), and this was one of those nights. We got started a little later in the day so it wasn't a super-long day in Epcot. Dinner ADR for the CP package, and I think our show was 6:30pm maybe. We had the stroller and after CP we took our time around WS, grabbed dessert at the bakery in France and staked out a spot to watch IllumiNations (at 9pm?). Despite being tired, she definitely enjoyed both events. I'd try for both if I were you.

Enjoy your vacation!

Thanks for the replies! I am thinking of doing the 6:45 show and staying for illuminations. It's our last night so I think it'll be a great send off! Just wasn't sure if I should do both, but sounds like I should . Thanks again. :-)

They are both so very special I could not pick one. The Christmas version of Illuminations is my favorite of all.
