Splash Mountain Refurb in 2013?

I am fully aware that Splash Mountain's in rough shape these days. What I'm wondering is what the chances are that it'll go down for a refurb in 2013? It's just we're planning a trip for spring of that year and...well...I love that ride and I'd hate to see it in bad shape.

Splash mt usually shuts down briefly in January or February (I can't remember which one) for maintenance. It recently had a significant refurb a short time ago, so I doubt it will be down in the spring of 2013. No guarantees though!

Doesn't seem to be in rough shape to me. That is my favorite ride.

It is typically refurbished in January but was not this year, so I would think they would take it down in Jan. 2013 - unless they do it sooner since it wasn't done in Jan. this year.

To the poster who doesn't think it's in sad shape- it has been widely reported to have broken animatronics and be missing other details.

I would very surprised if it didn't close for some TLC in January 2013, business as usual. The only reason they kept it open this year was because they did not want to close BTMRR and Splash at the same time, even during the slow season (per my former roommate who is a CM at Splash), and BTMRR needed the downtime more.

We go every January

We go every January and Splash is always closed, sometimes into the first week in Feb. It is usually open by Presidents day. This was the first year that we actually got to ride it. I did notice some of the animatronics were broken but that was it. I feel pretty confident we won't get to ride it next January.d That being said DD8 will be thrilled BTMRR will be up!

There was a video posted on Youtube recently that showed the Riverboat without ANY of the animatronics functioning. Maybe somebody backstage tripped over a cord.

Quite depressing to see.

I was at WDW just a couple days after that video was posted, and everything was working fine in the riverboat scene. It must have just a short outage that was fixed within a day or two.

I'm probably one of the few hoping it goes down for refurb before January 2013. I know it usually goes down in January but I enjoyed riding it 10 times this past January, and I'll be sad to see it down again. We always go at the end of January (in 2011 it was closed), so I'm secretly hoping they do their refurb before then.

That being said, it was a hit or miss as to whether or not things were working during our trip in January. What I CAN say is that the attraction closed a LOT. I'd say at least once a day it was down for an hour or so, due to one reason or another.

We also got stuck on it for 50 minutes before being evacuated. The boat was usually working, though once the lights were off and numerous times some of the animatronics didn't move.

All that being said, I STILL loved it (aside from our 50 minutes of being stuck in front of Brer Bear being stung repeatedly ) and hope it stays open in January 2013!

Got another question. How long has it been since the giant steamboat was actually tilting at the end of the ride?

Got one last question. When would a refurb for a ride like Splash Mountain normally be announced?
