Because you don't just want a good picture, you want to be able to go into a 20 minute explanation about your choice of lens, how you stopped down the aperture, etc.

Because why make do with $199 piece of equipment when you can use $2500 worth!

Don't you know you need all that gear to get really good shots?

Because to get an iPhone, you have to buy an Apple product...

I'd rather buy Nikon than Apple

(Not to mention, taking ~150-300 shots a day will drain the battery to nothing, and iPhones do not allow you to have multiple batteries, so you'd need to find a plug and spend half your day there, or purchase an external charger/battery for an exorbitant cost because it's for an iPhone)

Because your back wouldn't feel the same without the pack full of gear.

I carry mine because my doctor recommends weight bearing exercise.

+1

Also, to be serious for a second, there are things that a camera phone just cannot do. Nobody ever says, "Wow, that iPhone has such buttery smooth bokeh!"

I hadn't thought of the battery thing. Good point. they also stink in low light (though Apple claims improved performance with the 5).

The new panaroma feature on the iPhone is pretty sweet though. I suppose that tech could be put in DSLRs or mirrorless can't it?

It's in most Sony cameras I believe.

Bringing that bee pic up full size... I don't believe it would be possible for that pic to be recreated with an off the street iPhone 5.

Who knows, call me skeptical...

As Havoc mentioned, Sony pioneered that sweep panorama functionality years ago in their P&S line, and it migrated over to their DSLRs, SLTs, and mirrorless cameras too as of almost 2 years ago...Apple is actually a little late to the party on that one!

Personally, I can't think of anything more annoying than having my camera suddenly ring with a call when I'm lining up a great shot...I'll keep my cameras and my phones seperate, thank you very much!!
