Taking electrical items??
Hi all, a quick question......we are taking various electrical items such as phone chargers, ipad charger etc.....I am also wanting to take my hairdryer which is a professional one with difuser...my question is.....will it work ok in america? I have the dual powered straighteners so that's ok, just the hairdryer to think about.
Thanks in advance.... Cath

All electrical items have a power input rating on them.
It needs to read 100v-240v that means it will work on the US power supply of 120v and the UK supply of 230v, we changed from 240v to 230v about 10 years ago apparently http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mains_e...ity_by_country If it just says something like 240v input then it is designed to only work on a UK power supply. In all the years I have been going I have only had 1 mobile phone that would not charge over there (a Motorola V220) I take a lot of electricals and never have a problem but check the input on each item.

Are staying onsite? If so, they have hairdryers in all the rooms and they are OK. As Wayne said, if your hairdryer is 240v only then it probably won't work over there. I bought a travel hairdryer which I use - was only about £15, might be worth it.

Your electrical gadgets will be fine but I agree with Jo - your hairdryer probably won't work there.

How strange - I was thinking about this earlier too! DD has GHD's and I'm assuming they won't work. We all have long hair and I was hoping the hairdryers supplied would be reasoanble - we are staying at OKW if anyone could advise

This is off GHD website if any use. We don't take or use hair equipment so don't know much about them The ghd IV stylers and ghd Gold Series stylers have universal voltage so that you can use your styler in any country without an adaptor. In countries where the two-pin Euro plug is standard, simply remove the securing screw between the three pins and slide the adaptor from the two-pin plug. Model 3 and 3.1b stylers only work in countries where 220-240V power supply is available. We recommend you check the voltage available in your destination before you travel.

Just in case anyone is looking for the voltage on their GHDs, mine doesn't say on the plug - instead it says it on the little silver sticker on the inside of the handle: 110-230V.
And at Wayne! I always wondered how you got your hair so straight in your photos in your TR's!!!

Thanks all, and Wayne wow, you impress me with your hair care knowledge....in touch with your feminine side? Well done you
![]() My GHD's are ok it was just my hairdryer....you see I have naturally curly hair and get the best results if I us my diffuser otherwise its frizz city.....yikes......scary hairy ![]() I don't think I'll bother taking it as its really heavy too. There is a walmart around the corner so will go buy something cheap if the hotel (offsite) doesn't have a decent one. Thanks Cath

I think we should all start posting threads asking 'girly' questions, just to test Wayne out.
