Question Value Resorts

We're currently booked in a LM room at AoA. However, if the early 2013 promos come out and LM is excluded, we'll need to relocate. So of the remaining value resorts, which do you all think is best?

Considerations for "best:" cleanliness, room theming, overall resort theming, least likelihood of encountering snakes (thanks to the snake thread I just read ), parking close to room, CS restaurant quality, least yrs since refurbishment/updating.

We will generally be out from morning until bedtime most nights, so pools and such don't make a big difference to us.

Thanks!

Of the remaining values I'd stay at PoP I think

How much more would you pay to stay on Disney property, esp. if you really only used the room to sleep? Are the other benefits that important? I'm estimating the difference in cost for us to be about $300 IF we could get a 30% discount on a value room (which is very iffy I think) vs. staying at Liki Tiki Village where we usually stay. Can't decide whether it's worth that extra $300 to stay on property for once.

worth is so subjective. For me it's "worth" it. The transportation, EMH, overall all inclusive Disney feel. Worth every penny to me.

What about considering Bonnet Creek? On WDW property technically and much cheaper rates depending on when you book

For me, the transportation makes it worth it. Remember the factor in parking fees when making your decision! I only have a seasonal pass, so if I come in for a 2 day weekend, that's an extra 28 dollars for parking if I stay off property, so the cost difference isn't that huge. Also factor in car rentals and airport shuttles if you would need them at the other resort.

Also figure out if EMH is important. For me, if there is evening EMH at the park I am going to, it is will worth the extra money for a Disney resort. Plus, DH loves being able to drink beer in the park and not worry about driving home. A luxury he doesn't get very often!

We will be driving so we won't likely use much Disney transportation. And I've included parking in the rate differences.

I'm assuming Bonnet Creek isn't actually affiliated with Disney, correct? If so, then there wouldn't really be an advantage for us there b/c we can stay at Liki Tiki for $155 for a whole week. But still, have never stayed on property and I think it would be neat to do that at least once. This is also likely to be our last Disney vacation for awhile b/c our daughter will be in 1st grade next yr. We won't go during summer or peak times.

Just curious, what time of year do you go that you can get a room at Liki Tiki for $150 per week? Looks like a neat place and we need a cheap place to say for 2 nights before we go to POFQ but I am geting $88 per night in middle of November

That's our rate any time of the year (excl. New Year's, Easter, and Christmas wks) b/c we're members of the Occidental Vacation Club and they have an arrangement with Liki Tiki. Since we also drive, our last two Disney vacations have actually been cheap vacations. In fact, we only paid $99 for the week in 2010 and it even included free continental breakfast. This time we're going in Feb.

Cool, I was wondering how you got that rate. It would be pretty hard to stay on-site with a rate like that.

Yeah, FD is pretty much the key. Otherwise, it becomes a question of how much is the on-site "Disney experience" worth to us. Having never done it, it's hard to say. Incidentally, if we don't wind up using our OVC time for our trip, we are willing to rent it out.

We were booked at AoA LM room. Then FD went public and LM was excluded. We relocated to POP. We have only stayed onsite and I can't imagine not staying onsite. We could have gone with a moderate but we chose POP. We have stayed at POP before and we are happy to be back soon!
