Want the DVC PAP to work....

But it just doesn't seem to make sense for my family, not this year. I'll write out my thinking and if I'm missing something let me know.

We are a family of 5. Our 2013 trip is scheduled for March 20-27, so 8 days. I don't see us traveling again in 2013, just not in the budget. So the soonest we would go would be spring break 2014, and with Easter being April 20th 2014, our school district's spring break would be in the latter half of April too late for a PAP that was activated March 20, 2013. 8 day park hoppers bought thru UT with the MS discount would cost us $1775.76. PAPs would cost us $1995 plus tax, so approx $2120. We have never done the water parks, as we have our doubts as to ODS' ability to handle it, he has CP, but is ambulatory. So spending the money to try it out when we may need to call it quits after an hour has never seemed like a good plan. If it was a wash w with MYW tix costing the same as PAPs we would have done it. I just don't see it working for us, even though I want it to.

Sent from my iPad using DISBoards App, please excuse any typos.

You're not alone. We are going for 9 nights this November, but only need a 8 day PH. We will not be going again until spring break 2014 (ours is always the last week in March). I wish we could make it work, but just know it can't. Now DH and I are debating upgrading ours - we would get the $25 discount on TIW and the two of us might go for a long weekend next year for F&W - but we wouldn't take the kids.

I had bought our next APs before the price increases so we won't be able to upgrade those. I thought about holding those vouchers and buying the PAPs to use when our current APs expire. Ultimately, I decided the PAPs would be a nice luxury to have, but I just couldn't swallow the idea of having $1600 worth of APs sitting in my drawer.

Wish I could have made it work.

For what its worth. Don't forget that the AP gets a 10% discount on purchases, the PAP gets 20%. If you save $45 on purchases with the AP then that doubles to $90 on the PAP

Onboard for the first DCL Cruise to Hawaii.

I really wanted to get one also and am planning on taking my then 2 1/2 year old in December 2013 but am not sure I'd financially be able to afford another trip from CA to FL in 2014 so I'll be sitting this one out.

I do hope they get a good response though and it would be an option at a later point in time for my son and I.
